Hi Katherine, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
About 5 years ago, I bought my first camera to originally take photos of my jewelry business at the time. I quickly came to release I enjoyed using my camera much more than making jewelry. People quickly started asking for me to take their photos & before I knew it, I was being hired for all kinds of photoshoots. Fast forward about a year, I started shootings my first few weddings and my clients began asking for videographer recommendations. Being the strong-headed person I am, I decided I would try to do both! My husband saw I was taking on a lot in my new business and decided to take on the video part and work together on weddings. That was the year our business changed forever. We quickly began booking weddings locally & destination due to the convenience of offering both services.
Fast forward 4 years & were now a fully time, husband and wife, photo and video team capturing weddings domestically and internationally.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Being able to work with my husband has made the business growth and learning curve much more enjoyable. Also, offering a much-needed service in a much more valuable way made it much easier for us to grow together. However, working with your partner can be extremely difficult. We have definitely had some bumpy roads when it comes to building a successful business & being married but we make it work!

Katherine and Tyler photo and video is a husband-and-wife photography and videography team that specializes in weddings & engagements. We’re known for our bright and classic style that creates dreamy photographs & films. We strive to create timeless imagery and storytelling wedding films that’ll carry on for generations to come. Katherine, the photographer is a hybrid photographer who shoots digital and film photographs. This style allows me not only capture those candid, lifestyle shots, but also the editorial, photojournalist images. Tyler, the videographer creates every wedding film different from one another, focusing on each couple’s personality love story & wedding day. Together, the ultimate dream team can make any wedding day become a story out of a dream!
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
Charleston is such a one-of-a-kind city full of beautiful architecture, landscaping, scenic views & stunning light. If truly is a playground for photographers & we love that no matter how often we shoot in the city, we can make it look different each time.
