Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Fallon.
Jennifer, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Born in Boston MA a daughter to a blue-collar family boating and life on the water was a far-reaching passion if not fantasy. Unfortunately, my family could never afford a boat let alone a day on the water! Fast forward over twenty years later a seasoned letter carrier with a great career at the US postal service. The lingering boat passion haunted me later in my career It was then I realized it was time to slowly turn this passion into reality. Working full time, I dedicated my spare time in an apprenticeship program at a local marina learning a valuable trade. Ambitious and driven I was faced with the hardest decision of my life retire and move to FT Lauderdale a decision my family to this day strongly disagreed with.
In FT Lauderdale I was a little fish in a very big pond, a perfect environment to learn and earn my way in the marine industry. Furthering my education and working on numerous large yachts FT Lauderdale taught me “skies the limit” being a woman in a male-dominated industry I paved my own way for success. I thought long and hard why I’m working for someone else when I can be working for myself? Boat Girl was then born.
After an extensive demographic study, this little fish moved north to Palm Coast FL a community in dire need of marine services. Palm Coast welcomed the Boat Girl crew with open arms and to this day we strive to be pillars of the community. Each year aside from boat work we focus our attention on being involved in a disaster relief program, offer a Thanksgiving food drive, and support toys for tots at Christmas time. The largest program we offer back to the community is the boat back program occurring every August my birthday month. The team and I choose a boat in great disrepair once chosen we restore it back to its original condition at no cost to the owner. The gratitude is overwhelming as many of these owners are either physically impaired, suffering financially or both. To witness firsthand restoring someone else’s passion I think back to my own that brought me here.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Roller coaster ride just like most small businesses I’ve run into product shortage, covid issues, weather and by far most importantly lack of qualified help! Boat girl is a marine restoration and detailing company so individuals must be proficient in the marine trade.
As you know, we’re big fans of Boat Girl Cleaning Company LLC. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I do it all, lol if it’s marine-related it’s taken care of. I specialize in marine restoration, detailing, yacht interior, staging, ceramic installation, teak, and varnish projects. I am known for my attention to detail, my personality, famous before and after photos and I treat everyone’s vessel as it is my own. Setting me apart from others would be that I’m the only female-owned marine restoration company in a hundred-mile radius. I proudly represent the Star Brite marine solutions brand, I am on the pro staff team. The Boat Girl brand is a far from glamorous mission on our end, but boy the results we strive for are amazing! We roll up our sleeves turn the tunes on and transform vessels of all shapes and sizes. We are passionate in what we do, artists I guess you could say? No two days are the same. Boat Girl is a small business with a very big heart.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Happy to me is experiencing gratitude and being appreciated.
