Inspiring Conversations with Natalya Polite of N’Spire Tutoring and Mentoring Program

Today we’d like to introduce you to Natalya Polite.

Hi Natalya, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
N’Spire Tutoring and Mentoring Program was established in June of 2019; the summer of me entering my senior year of high school. Ever since I was a child, I always envisioned inspiring and motivating younger generations because I saw it was a need in the community and because of the impact my family and friends had on me. It was during my aunt’s youth session I attended where we were asked to write down a few things we are passionate about and possibly use those passions to create business ventures. From this day forward, I knew exactly what I wanted to do. Stepping out on faith, I started my business a little over 2 years ago, and with the help of God, my family, and clients I have been able to impact, motivate, and inspire over 40 children in the tri-county area of Charleston, South Carolina through both my tutoring and mentoring services.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I believe that with success, comes challenges. Overall, the growth and expansion of N’Spire Tutoring and Mentoring Program has been phenomenal over the past 2 years. The path has been smooth thus far, however, as challenges were faced, it didn’t tear the program apart, it only built up. One of the struggles when this vision first came about was believing in myself, knowing that I was able to instill knowledge into the children in my community. Oftentimes, when you have a vision and you feel like you are ready to launch off you start to question your ability to achieve and that is what happened to me. I started to question my ability to have a positive impact, however, I reminded myself that this vision would have never come about if I wasn’t able to accomplish it. Another struggle that I faced was trying to adapt ways for the children to stay engaged through the tutoring sessions. Some children being tutored don’t necessarily want to be tutored because most think that it is “boring”. Growing up as a child who loved school and learning, I always believed that learning can be fun! Learning is what you make it, so transitioning my mindset allowed me to adapt the tutoring sessions based upon the tutee.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about N’Spire Tutoring and Mentoring Program?
N’Spire Tutoring and Mentoring Program was established in June of 2019 with the purpose to enhance youth abilities in academic subjects and help youth reach their full potential through tutoring and mentoring. N’Spire Tutoring and Mentoring Program has been able to inspire over 40 children, again through tutoring and mentoring services. The sessions offered is an experience every time, where the students feel comfortable being themselves just as much as I feel comfortable sharing information and advice with them. Currently, N’Spire Tutoring and Mentoring Program offers two different sub-programs: In-person tutoring and mentoring services and Virtual tutoring and mentoring services. Recently, N’Spire Tutoring and Mentoring Program conducted a 4-week Volunteer Program where 8 youth were tutored and mentored at no cost. N’Spire Tutoring and Mentoring Program plan to make the Volunteer Program an annual initiative as the turnout was amazing.

What do you think about happiness?
Achieving my goals makes me happy. Anytime I envision something and I am able to bring it to reality, it not only makes me happy but it encourages me to keep going and continue making progress toward my desired outcome and greater. I believe that I am in control of my own happiness, therefore, I will keep envisioning and turning my “dreams into reality”.
