Meet LaTonya Renee of F.A.C.E. & Breakthrough Pictures

Today we’d like to introduce you to LaTonya Renee.

Hi LaTonya, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I am LaTonya Renee. Wife of 1, mother of 3, and a serial entrepreneur.

I would say my Entrepreneurship started on Oct. 4, 2012 – it was that day that I realized that my purpose in life was to help others. Over the next years, I hired coaches, attended workshops, took toast masterclasses and so much more until I finally understood how I was supposed to help and who I was supposed to help. I started several businesses over those years, but it wasn’t until Summer 2021 after seeking God’s desire for me and listening to his voice that I was able to finally “walk” in my purpose. I started 2 businesses.

The first one is called F.A.C.E. – which stands for Female African American Christian Entrepreneur… F.A.C.E. Is a social enterprise. A brand by a Black Woman to empower Black Women and products for all Women. Currently, you can shop from or e-commerce store. We have plans to launch in fall 2022 with some products that’s made with Black women in mind! I am also the founder of its sister, True. F.A.C.E. Foundation. True F.A.C.E. Foundation is a nonprofit organization designed to position Black Women and Girls to become leaders in their industries so they could create change in their communities as it affects Black Women. We do this through our H.E.L.P. (Health, Economics, Leadership & Passion) model. More information about the social enterprise and nonprofit can be found at www.iamaface.com.

I wouldn’t be a good leader if I didn’t take my own advice, which leads to the second business. Helping people is my purpose; however, the entertainment industry is another strong passion of mine. So, with the help of 2 amazing friends and business partners, we were able to start a production company called Breakthrough Pictures. Breakthrough Pictures is not just a regular production company but one with a strong mission – to provide people of color with fair and accurate representation in front of and behind the camera. South Carolina isn’t the easiest place for a Black person nor any other person of color to move up in the film/tv industry. So, we decided, instead of waiting on this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be “seen” and be given an opportunity to land a job above the line, we will create our own opportunities and opportunities for others. In less than 6 months, we were able to complete several Pilot scripts and landed a contract to produce a local tv show that will air on a global network. You can read more about our company and its founders at  www.breakthroughpictures.com

I am so excited about what the future holds for F.A.C.E. and Breakthrough Pictures.

Just know, I believe everyone who reads this article has the chance to make all of their desires come true. I can tell you that it won’t be tomorrow and it won’t be easy. You will be faced with some difficult decisions, roadblocks, challenging relationships, and financial hardship. But, if you just hold on, trust God, stay focused and be grateful – you can then one day share your story to encourage others.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Not asking God for help believing that my struggles were curses and not processes

Listening to others

Being overwhelmed with all the tasks

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
To keep things simple, what separates my companies from the normal companies is that making a profit is 2nd priority. In both, our main priority is to create a positive change.

Are there any books, apps, podcasts, or blogs that help you do your best?
