Meet Lisa White

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lisa White.

Hi Lisa, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself
I started decorating cakes and treats in 2012. It started as an outlet for me to help deal with my anxiety. Throughout the years it became more of a passion rather than an outlet. After the birth of my second child, I knew it was time for me to pursue my love for decorating through a business. I started having second thoughts because a lot of people were decorating treats and I didn’t know how mines would stand out from theirs. I took classes and begin practicing until I was confident enough to take customers. I love my customers, they give me an extra boost of confidence to continue growing my business. I can’t wait to see what the future holds for me and my business.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Is there a such thing as a smooth road when starting a business? I’ve definitely dealt with some challenges but I’m finding my way through them. I’m in the treat business so finding the correct products can be difficult. You have to find what works for you. I went through so many products that I didn’t like so I was just seeing my money go to waste. I definitely went through moments where I doubted myself and said I could not do this anymore. Having ideas that just don’t come out right and getting frustrated was a mess. I laugh about it now. I just knew I had to trust my process. Trust that I could do it. I had to stop putting doubt in my mind and know everything is not going to be easy. I practice new skills daily and I see growth in my work.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am currently working at a call center. I know call centers are known for being a high-paced and very stressful job but I can say I enjoy it. I don’t have a problem with talking with people. I’m like a little therapist because I hear all type of problems all day long. I just try to help my customers and go on to my next call. I currently love what I do but I am looking forward to working only for myself one day.

What makes you happy?
Family. I know this is everyone’s go-to answer but my family is everything to me. My husband, parents, kids, and sibling are everything to me. When I’m with any of them I’m always happy. My husband and I have two kids age 13 and 2. I can say my two boys keep me on my toes for sure. I love spending quality time with them. I love our family time, game nights, date nights, and sister time. It doesn’t matter what type of mood I’m in, whenever I’m with my family I am happy. With everything that’s going on in the world today, everyone needs an escape. My escape to happiness is my family.
