Today we’d like to introduce you to Larissa Lyles.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
After years of baking cakes for friends and family, my sister, Katie, kept nagging me to make a Facebook page and sell them. I finally listened and now we are building the bakery of our dreams. Now I’m able to provide for my family doing what I love and have the flexibility to spend more time with them as well! In a world full of basic, I’m honored to delight the socks off of people who are sick of the same old cakes. I couldn’t do it without Katie and my incredible clients by my side.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
We really started our business during Covid, which for most businesses and bakeries was a really hard time. Our business took off and flourished during Covid. We got really lucky and are incredibly grateful. We struggle daily with keeping everything running smoothly, and definitely hit some bumps in the road along the way, but have been very fortunate to work together and accomplish what has needed to be accomplished.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I, Larissa, am a SAHM, wife, dog owner, and lover of all things creative. I found my outlet in baking and have only recently (within the last year) found an outlet that lets me be as creative as I want while creating shaped macarons. Of course, I still make traditional round macarons, but the Ana and Elsa macarons, The Grinch macarons, the flamingo macarons, these macarons give me an additional outlet to use my creativity.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
We have a team that helps us succeed with our business. My sister Katie is my business partner and biggest cheerleader, also keeping me from getting too extravagant but still allowing creative freedom. We have business coaches, Holly and Kerry, who have been an enormous support system and have helped us navigate “business”. Our financial advisor, Leslie, helps us keep our finances in check. Nancy, our bookkeeper goes above and beyond in supporting our business. We have a Social Media Manager, Meghan, who is a wizard with understanding the ins and outs of all things social media. And lastly but most important we have incredibly supportive friends and family, especially our parents who frequently help with childcare as well as miscellaneous things the business requires. We wouldn’t be where we are today and wouldn’t be going where we are without all of these individuals!
