Today we’d like to introduce you to Maricarmen Monasterio.
Hi Maricarmen, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I was born and raised in La Guaira, Venezuela. Since I was around 16 years old I dreamed of being a civil engineer, although when I was younger I was more passionate about drawing or fashion design, as I grew older my passion began to be able to supervise and carry out the construction of houses, for which I went to university and studied to be a civil construction technician, for me that was one of the best stage and experience of my life, due to the current situation in Venezuela my brothers emigrated to the USA specifically to South Carolina, I had the opportunity to come in 2016 and then I return to continue my university studies, it is until July 2017 that I return to South Carolina to spend time with my brothers and after almost 2 months I made the decision to leave my studies in Venezuela and look for better opportunities in this country!
In my country I never worked, I only studied. So here I had my first job, in 2017 I started to work cleaning houses under construction, I have worked cleaning in hotel, inhabited houses, I worked for a year in a cast iron pan factory and I also did a couple of makeup as an extra job. As my greatest work experience is in house cleaning, I have long dreamed of being able to form my own cleaning business, since the areas near Charleston, SC. It is still a growing area, every day we see more house construction, so my first vision was to be able to start cleaning houses under construction but then I realized that there were many more than houses under construction, who could also offer cleaning services. of inhabited houses, offices, or vacation homes.
But although I had been with the idea of starting my business for a long time, it was until this year that I made the decision to make it official, it has not been my best financial year but in taking risks and believing in ourselves is that the great achievements have been made.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
If I spoke about emigrating, it really has not been a totally smooth path, there is a lot of frustration, anxiety about the future, thinking if you really made the right decision, feeling sad for everything you left in your country. In my case, I left my studies, my family and friends, I have not seen my father for 4 years, I have not had very good financial stability and sometimes you want to give up.
As for starting my business, I am quite grateful to life. I think there could not have been a better time than when I decided to register my business, although sometimes we meet people who are not so nice, especially because I do not speak English if I have been blessed to connect with clients who have been totally friendly with me.
We’ve been impressed with Moon Cleaning Services LLC, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My business specializes in residential and commercial cleaning services, with over three years of experience. We carry out cleaning of inhabited houses, cleaning of houses under construction, and moving cleaning.
We work to satisfy the needs of each client, there cannot be a protocol in our cleaning because each home or each family has different needs and our intention is to be open to satisfy what each home needs and thus give a rate
I feel proud when a client is satisfied with my services when they return home and send me a message thanking me for the work we do in their home
