Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashia Jones.
Hi Ashia, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started out as a licensed cosmetologist. I received my cosmetology license in 2007 after graduating from Kenneth Shuler School of Cosmetology.
As a Cosmetologist, I started working with Sheen Magazine and Nairobi hair care as an assistant for the hair shows and when they were in need of a makeup artist I jumped in and started doing makeup for their models, that’s where I found my love for makeup and skincare services.
Fast forward to 2018, I went back to school for Esthetics and received my Esthetics license. Today, I am the co-owner of Let’s Create Magic Studios along with my husband Jonathan Jones. Our studio is photography and makeup studio where we create magic together. I am also stepping into a new role as a public speaker where I educate and motivate women to pursue their dreams.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not been a smooth road. In the beauty industry, you have your ups and downs, you just have to find ways to overcome those obstacles by thinking outside of the box and doing what makes you happy while pursuing your purpose. Some of my struggles were inconsistent clientele, slow weeks, especially during the holiday seasons.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a licensed Cosmetologist and Esthetician. I specialize in natural glam makeup services. I am known for providing premium beauty services to help women enhance their natural beauty. What sets me apart from others is that I am not just a makeup artist and hairstylist, I am a motivator, an educator, and a woman that loves to help other women look and feel beautiful.
Although makeup artistry is just painting a beautiful canvas, my goal is to make every woman feel beautiful and confident from the moment she steps into my studio to the time she leaves.
The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
The lessons that I have learned from Covid-19 is to stay safe and as a business professionals, we must all have health and safety guidelines to follow such as sanitizing and disinfecting our work areas and businesses, while also wearing masks.
With the loss of so many family members due to Covid-19, it is imperative that we protect ourselves as well as our customers.
