Rising Stars: Meet Max Quinlan

Today we’d like to introduce you to Max Quinlan.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I am serving as the new Producing Artistic Director for Greenville Theatre. This company is currently celebrating its’ 96th Season in our ‘Welcome Back’ year. My family and I just moved to Greenville from New York City about five months ago to start on this new adventure together.

I have been in theatre my entire life, most recently serving as the Resident Director for the Broadway revival of Les Miserables as well as the National Tour of The Phantom of the Opera. My wife and I fell in love as actors on the Les Miz National Tour where we came through Greenville for the first time. We were blown away by all that this place had to offer!

Nine years later, we have two children and have planted our roots here with our new artistic home, Greenville Theatre. I am beyond thrilled to take over this historic theatre company and to make Greenville my new home.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Life is a constant journey in overcoming obstacles. So many things had to happen and so many things had to not happen in order for us to be where we are today. I am grateful for the highs and lows of this journey that have to lead me to Greenville Theatre.

I am so excited to be part of this community, work with the local artists here, and give back the power of storytelling to this town I love so much.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
As the Producing Artistic Director, it is my job to oversee the running of our company, work with our incredible staff, collaborate with the actors and creative team members, and direct many shows within our six-show season. My love and joy are directing.

I love tackling new stories, figuring out the heart of a piece, conceptualizing the show, working to create a cohesive world to play within, and collaborating with other artists to create something special. I am most proud of finding creative solutions, having fun in the process, and supporting others as we work together to create something magical.

So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
