Life & Work with Jen and Michael Prendamano

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jen and Michael Prendamano.

Hi Jen and Michael, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
The Bin Store started as an online business in a shed in our backyard. In most cases, business go from “brick and mortar” concepts and add an online component. In our case, we did the exact opposite by starting with an online store and saw an opportunity to scale with a traditional retail concept.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Starting and scaling a business is never smooth. Deciding the appropriate infrastructure needed to accommodate our projected and then actual growth was particularly challenging.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I would simply and humbly say that we specialize in sales, which is why we thought this would be the perfect business model because at it’s core it is buying & selling

Jen specializes in Massage Therapy, voted best Massage Therapist in Columbia for several years and still owns/operates her practice: Bliss Massage Therapy which is located in Vista.

Michael has been involved in many startups with successful exits, most recently a technology company which is debuting this year on the Nasdaq.

Both Michael & Jen would say they are most proud of their philanthropic endeavors. They have plans to establish a foundation this year and are gearing up to donate a tractor-trailer filled with toys to families of need in the CSRA.

We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
We have found that COVID-19 has had an effect on all of us in varying ways and degrees. One of the aspects of the business we are most proud of is that it gives us an opportunity to pass on tremendous discounts to our customers for everyday consumable items in such times of need.
