Meet Matthew Foster of Motorboat Mechanics

Today we’d like to introduce you to Matthew Foster.

Hi Matthew, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Motorbaot Mechanics started out of the back of a 2008 Ford Taurus. I was working this nights and weekend as a side hustle while working as an engineer. After about 6 months I built a customer base to a point where I could leave my job and pursue this business full time. 5 years later we have 5 location in three states and have serviced over 13,000 customers.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Not smooth whatsoever. Learning the trade, navigating seasonality, COVID, supply chain issues, tariffs, it has been full of challenges. At the end of the day – we simply focused on always putting the customer first, and that is what has carried us to today.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Motorboat Mechanics?
Motorboat Mechanics is a boat service and repair facility. We specialize in boats under 45′ in length and perform mechanical and electrical repairs and maintenance. We are a full service Mercury repower center as well.

We offer mobile service out of all 5 of our locations as well as a full service shop inside of the marinas where we are located. Locally we are inside of Shem Creek Marina right on Shem Creek.

We are 100% customer focused and are only focused on service and repair. We aren’t here to sell you a new boat – we want your current boat to perform to the best of its abilities.

What matters most to you?
Our customers. That is who keeps us in business, keeps us busy and allows us to keep performing the trade that we love.
