Meet Donna Roch of Donna’s Dashing Notary Service

Today we’d like to introduce you to Donna Roch.

Donna Roch

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I was gearing up for retirement, picturing myself sipping coffee and minding my own business, when a coworker casually said, “You know… being a notary would be a perfect retirement gig.” Flexible, independent, and still a way to help people? Fine. I’ll bite.

It was the middle of COVID, refinance rates were at a wild 2%, and the notary world was basically on fire. I figured I’d dabble in it as a cute little side hustle. Spoiler alert: there is nothing “little” about this industry.

What I didn’t expect was how much I’d love it — or how fast the whole thing would snowball. One minute I was learning how to notarize documents; the next I was racing across the Carolinas doing closings, meeting families, helping people through major life decisions, and realizing this wasn’t just a retirement hobby… it was a full-blown career.

Donna’s Dashing Notary Service was born out of that unexpected adventure. It’s grown into something I’m proud of — real work that helps real people every single day. Not bad for a “side hustle.”

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Smooth? Absolutely not. More like a scenic drive with potholes, detours, and a couple of “I should’ve just stayed home” moments.

In the beginning, everything felt overwhelming — learning two sets of state laws, figuring out the difference between NC and SC requirements, managing schedules, fees, paperwork, and trying not to look like I was Googling things under the table. There were days I genuinely wondered if I’d made a mistake.

And yes, I’ve made mistakes. Plenty. But each one taught me something important. Having people like Diana & Jonathan on speed dial saved my sanity more than once. They’re the kind of people you call when you’re positive you’ve missed something… and they talk you off the ledge.

This business isn’t easy, but the hard parts are what shaped me. Every challenge made me sharper, calmer, and more confident. I went from feeling like a nervous rookie to running my business with certainty — and a healthy sense of humor.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Donna’s Dashing Notary Service serves both North and South Carolina, and yes — I really do “dash.” I’m a mobile notary handling real estate closings, trust signings, apostilles, and general notary appointments of every kind.

But here’s what truly sets me apart: I make it personal.
I don’t show up just to stamp paper. I show up to guide people through big moments — buying a home, settling a trust, navigating family decisions, or handling documents during difficult times. Notary work is not transactional to me; it’s human.

I’m known for being responsive, reliable, flexible, and yes… the notary who actually answers the phone. I show up in homes, hospitals, care facilities, coffee shops, offices — wherever people need help. And I show up prepared, calm, and ready to make the process painless.

Brand-wise, I’m proud of what my business represents:
professionalism, heart, humor, and consistency.
Families trust me. Attorneys trust me. National signing companies trust me. And my goal is always the same — take care of people while taking care of business.

When you call Donna’s Dashing Notary Service, you’re not just getting a stamp. You’re getting someone who cares, listens, explains, and makes the whole experience feel a little easier.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The biggest lesson? Reliability and attitude beat everything else.

You can memorize every notary statute ever written, but if you don’t show up on time, treat people with respect, and handle chaos with grace, the knowledge means nothing.

I’ve learned that every appointment is a chance to build trust.
People won’t always remember the paperwork — but they absolutely remember how you made them feel.

Some days are smooth, some are challenging, some are emotional, and some are downright chaotic. But staying calm, staying flexible, and keeping a sense of humor… that’s what turns a one-time client into someone who calls you over and over.

It’s not just about stamping documents. It’s about showing up for people — and doing it with heart.
