Today we’d like to introduce you to JessicaHuthmaker.
Hi Jessica, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Jim and Jessie Huthmaker have always enjoyed excellent coffee. Jim ventured to Guatemala in 2010 to learn the artisan craft of roasting coffee the “Guatemalan” way. He brought those skills to The Haven Coffeehouse in Lexington, which was transitioned into a bakery upon the Huthmakers moving to Colorado.
Righteous Grounds was then birthed in the small mountain town of Woodland Park, CO in a 100 year old log cabin and quickly became a cozy gathering place for locals and adventurers traveling to Aspen, Vail, and Rocky Mountain National park.
Moving back “home” to Lexington, SC “someday” remained in thier hearts, and here they are! They are renovating an older home into what we be Righteous Grounds Coffeehouse & Roastery in Lexington.
In the meantime, they have opened a “mini-bar” inside of the Barr Road Sports Complex to serve the many families and athletes of Lexington.
The larger, cozy, coffeehouse is projected to open in late September 2025. They will continue their traditions of hand crafted coffee drinks made from artisan roasted coffee onsite, made from scratch baked goods, along with bagel sandwiches and other light breakfast items.
Thier heart and vision is to host a gathering place for the community.
The coffeehouse has a “library” space that can also be rented for private meetings or celebrations. An outdoor patio will provide extra seating and enjoyment of the beautiful South Carolina floral and fawna.
A sand volleyball court is in future plans to be a place where families, teens, and young adults can come and play!
The coffee house vision is to become a small oasis to “come get away” from the hustle bustle of life and provide a place to enjoy excellent service, excellent high quality coffee and food items, in a casual, welcoming atmosphere, family friendly atmosphere with relationship building in mind.
Jim and Jessie look forward to having coffee with you!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Owning a small business is often accompanied by “struggle” but we believe its worth it to be able to serve and reach out to people in a unique way.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
What sets us apart is our love for people, and desire to provide our community with something different, special, with quality in mind. To show people their value and worth, all over the bridge connection of coffee.
Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
The biggest risk and struggle has been jumping out to create something unique and valuable to the community amongst city regulations that don’t seem to want or support small businesses much!
