Today we’d like to introduce you to Allen Crosby.
Allen, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started working on political campaigns in the Charlotte NC area. Through the process, I became increasingly interested in transportation policy, particularly that of rail-based transportation. During a congressional campaign I was running I advocated a strong position for passenger rail., It was not well received. As a result. started the Southeastern Passenger Rail Initiative (SEPRI) with a clear mission: to advocate for and advance the development of passenger rail across the Southeast and to change hearts and minds.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
There is a quality mix of both good and bad. Converting lip service support to genuine commitment from supporters and donors is always challenging for any group. That being said, the amount of support we have received has been truly incredible.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Southeastern Passenger Rail Initiative ?
The Southeastern Passenger Rail Initiative (SEPRI) was started to push for better passenger rail service across the Southeast. Seeing the need for more reliable and sustainable ways to travel, SEPRI brought together local leaders, transportation experts, and advocates to make it happen. From the start, the goal has been simple: to expand rail service, improve infrastructure, and connect communities. Along the way, SEPRI has also focused on educating the public about the benefits of passenger rail and advocating for policies that make these projects possible, helping to boost the economy and create a better future for the region.
Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
We would always appreciate people going to check us out, see what we do, and share with their friends and family. Like any other organization, the SEPRI lives and dies on support from the public.
