Conversations with Jennifer Cuba

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Cuba

Hi Jennifer, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
While I got my cosmetology license in high school, I found it wasn’t for me. I got my massage license and spent 8 years in Palm Beach, FL, then 10 years in Maine. When I moved to Charleston to keep an eye on my parents, I thought it would be fun to become an esthetics instructor, but did eyelash extensions instead. After 15 years of eyelashes, I was burned out. I didn’t know what I wanted to do next. After drooling over videos of head spa’s in Japan, I had the epiphany, that I could that too! My routine now combines all of my licenses, and I love making people so happy!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I’ve owned a small business before, but social media wasn’t a thing back then. Getting savvy with social media isn’t fun for me, so I’m trying to get the word out that I exist in other ways. Organic online searches and word of mouth have been helpful, but being consistently busy has been my biggest challenge.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My first job as a massage therapist landed me at a private club in Palm Beach. My clients offered me the opportunity to spend the summers in Maine, where I met so many more interesting people. Martha Stewart became a client, I had Rockefellers, Ford family, CEO’s of Fortune 500 companies, Martin Scorcese’s wife, Dick Wolf’s (tv show producer) wife, Carolina Herrera (the fashion designer)…so many more cool people, I forget. In Charleston, I massaged PGA pro’s like Nick Faldo, celebrities like Channing Tatum, Mary Stewart Masterson, and Eva Longoria.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
When I was in 4th and 5th grade, we had a small boat with a cabin that we would take to lakes that I could water ski, then we would tent camp somewhere, or drop anchor and sleep on the boat sometimes.
