Meet Billy Bradley, Jr of Columbia, SC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Billy Bradley, Jr.

Billy Bradley, Jr

Hi Billy, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’m a native of Jacksonville, North Carolina and oldest son of Billy and Janice Bradley. I was raised in my home church of Deliverance Evangelistic Temple where my father was and still a deacon and church drummer and my mother the praise team leader. I come from a family of singers and musicians, so my inspiration always came from the home front. My father instilled in me the importance of always learning as much as possible and while learning to also apply. My father is a skilled audio technician, musician, and videographer/photographer and has always displayed hard work and commitment to have pride in what you do. My mother consistently reminded me that no matter how good you become there is always going to be someone better so you have to keep God first and remain humble, because being humble will always open more doors than pride. I received my BS is Business Administration with a minor in Accounting from Livingstone College and soon after received 2 masters from the University of Phoenix 1 in Business Administration and another in Managerial Economics. While matriculating in my education, I continued to home in on my musical skills in the marching band, gospel choir, church and various other groups. Fast forward to today, I am the Musical Director for St. Paul Baptist Church and the co-founder of FAMED Music Group, which produces and records artist of all genres. Additionally, I am the founder of Billy Bradley, Jr & Heart of Worship an award-winning contemporary gospel group as well as the musical director for The Good Vibes Live Band. I am an endorsee of Cosmic Ears.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road has been tedious as but well worth the trip. Fear of failure, the unknown, or even success can be a big obstacle to achieving goals. However, fear can also be a motivator. Anytime you others feel that you are making progress and your progress has the potential to threaten their position there’s always going to be some sort of opposition. However, staying humble, keeping a student mentality, and always networking and building relationships has always been the key. Things that kept me focus were: Learning from their experiences, even painful ones, Practicing mindfulness and self-awareness, and not allowing distractions to be an obstacle to success.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Creativity is nothing more than an individual’s expression of their needs, desires and uniqueness. What makes me stand out as an artist/creative is by remaining open to experiences and consistently striving for creative achievement, This consists of lots of different facets, but they’re all related to each other: Intellectual curiosity and openness to my emotions, The thing that brings them all together is my drive for cognitive and behavioral exploration of the world, my inner world and my outer world. My family (wife and kids) inspire me daily and that and the grace of God pushes me to be great every day. I’m a firm believer that God has gifted me with numerous talents and I don’t take for granted that he could have given them to anyone else, but because he chose me I’m going to be a good steward of those gifts and talents.

I’m proud of being a people’s person because I never meet a stranger and I love making people smile. It makes me proud to know that anything I accomplish my family is able to experience it with me. I always want to be an example to my sons that if you put in the work you can achieve anything. If you’d ask my closest circle about me, they’d tell you that I love God, I love my family, I love music, and I absolutely love to eat. lol. I specialize in business consultation, business strategy, music production and arrangement, songwriting, and artist development.

How do you define success?
Success starts with focusing on becoming the best version of yourself and not trying to be a carbon copy of someone else. Success is also pursuing what you want even when you fail or when setbacks occur, making the choice to continue pursuing something is a success of its own. Taking some time to reflect on your values is important. This way, you can learn to make better decisions. When you behave based on your values, you tend to feel better about your actions and more confident in your decisions. Your goals should be driven by your source of inspiration and should make an impact. Another aspect of success is being able to live in the moment. As many people focus on the past and future, it can be challenging to focus on the present. Being aware of my thoughts, surroundings and feelings help me to be more mindful. My key component for being successful is to always be learning new things, no matter what stage I’m at in my career. Lifelong learners are always trying to find new ways to expand their knowledge. I do this by reading books, keeping up with current affairs, listening to podcasts and attending educational courses. I also surround myself with people of different backgrounds to immerse myself in new perspectives and ideas.
