Hi Kaitlyn, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Since I was little, I’ve been captivated by the magic of entertaining friends and making things more elegant. Anywhere from throwing a last-minute event on our back porch for our neighbors to reorganizing Christmas presents so they flowed nicely under the tree. I never realized until later that what I love could be a career option. I started college aspiring to be in the medical field but realized that was not my true passion. During my college years, I managed a boutique and was tasked with hosting a fashion show and this made me recognize my true passion and calling for planning events. I quickly moved back to Charleston to pursue a career in events. From learning the ins and outs of the industry to building relationships with vendors and venues, the journey has been both challenging and incredibly rewarding. There’s nothing quite like seeing a couple’s vision come to life, surrounded by the love and laughter of their nearest and dearest.
Over years of working with many event planners, I realized no one is as passionate as I am about ensuring clients have their dream event. I always want the best for clients and for others, this is just a job. As a wedding planner, I get to be a part of one of the most important days in a couple’s life. I’m the one who helps them navigate the overwhelming task of planning their dream day, ensuring that every detail is executed flawlessly. It’s a responsibility I take incredibly seriously but fills me with a sense of purpose and pride.
I have created my own business to ensure my clients are well taken care of, stress-free, and everything is elegant on one of the most important days of their lives. Whether it’s sourcing the perfect flowers, coordinating the timeline, or simply being a calming presence on the big day, I pour my heart and soul into every event I’m a part of. Because for me, this isn’t just a job – it’s a calling. It’s the chance to create memories that will last a lifetime, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Planning a wedding or event is the easy part with a trustworthy and detail-oriented planner by your side. However, the best aspect of a wedding planner is how they handle the unpredictable challenges. I have learned how to overcome a wedding being canceled due to a hurricane, the ceiling pouring rain onto my bride’s dance floor, and the most unpredictable time of everyone’s life, COVID. The best way to handle these situations is to remain calm and reassuring for your client while you are proactive, creative, and resourceful.
