Today we’d like to introduce you to Andre Oliver.
Hi, Andre; we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, let’s briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I first received Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior at eight. Growing up, I was always competitive and competed in many sports, my favorites being basketball and boxing. I still train for boxing today, although my days in the ring are probably over. Throughout my early teens, I recall numerous situations where I felt like the Lord was trying to get my attention. My hunger for God’s presence increased even at a young age through angelic visitations, visions, dreams, and spiritual encounters. When I was 14, my local church began to refer to me as “Prophet Junior.” Around that time, I began to study the scriptures about the prophet’s ministry.
Interestingly enough, from the age of 15 until I graduated high school, there were some of the toughest challenges of my childhood. Throughout the trials that I now know were used by God to make deposits in my character, I never stopped seeking the presence of God or fighting. After graduating high school, I went on to college. In this particular season, my devotion to the Lord began to slip as I was more involved with social activities and wanted to be famous. Even then, I remember running into some local Pastors on campus who prophesied to me, saying that I was a prophet of God and that I would not be able to escape the destiny of my life; days after that encounter, my life would never be the same. I received a phone call regarding some bad news concerning my mother. My grandmother called to inform me that my mom’s health was declining at an astronomical rate, and the doctors did not know how much longer she had to live. I fought in a boxing tournament that weekend, won, and used the prize money to move to Virginia to be with my mom. That day was March 16, 2011. Little did I know, three years later, from that day. My mom would pass. Retrospectively, I can honestly say that those three years were some of the most impactful times of my life. It wasn’t until my mom’s passing that I truly gave all of myself to the Lord; as time passed, the Lord blessed me with many different mentors, some of whom I still communicate with today. Two in particular come to mind at this moment. One was a well-known Prophet in the city, and the other was my boxing coach. As time continued to pass and I matured as a man, I experienced many victories in the ring and ministry. The Lord blessed me with a beautiful dog, a loving wife, and no kids yet.
In December of last year, before crossing over into 2024, The Lord instructed me to start a faith-based fitness program infused with spiritual principles. This program will be used not only to help with weight loss, body recomposition, and transformation but also as a tool to help fight against low self-esteem, low confidence, eating disorders, and even body dysmorphia. Everything that God does is on purpose. There is even a purpose behind an individual’s genetics. I believe that even our physical bodies can tell a story about Christ in a personal way. Since the beginning of this year, I have worked hard to bridge the gap between my two loves as an adolescent and present it in a way that brings spiritual, emotional, and physical healing to God’s people.
It wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
One of the obstacles that I am currently facing is exposure. I trust God for favor and kingdom connections rather than relying on man. The Lord will bring the right connections in the right season. Challenges for my fitness journey have scaled from small things, such as going out to eat and getting my own food, to significant things, such as dealing with insecurity and low self-esteem that I thought I had already given to the Lord. Throughout the process, I also struggled with not comparing my physique to others I would see on social media. Another major challenge was putting in hard work, knowing that the results would only be seen after some time. The Lord increased my capacity for patience.
Let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
My work mainly consists of prophetic coaching/mentoring on weekdays and traveling for ministry on weekends whenever I am blessed. I also just started working with several individuals assisting in their weight loss journey. I go into prayer asking God-specific questions, seeking insight about His creation. God then gives a personalized plan for them with scripture and prophetic declarations for them to proclaim over themself. I check in at least twice with them and keep track of their progress.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
That is a great question. If you know me growing up, you probably would have described me as peculiar and very imaginative. As a toddler, I watched a lot of hero shows and anime which probably inspired me and had an impact on my perspective, wanting to save people and fight for others. Even throughout the process of adolescence and maturation I wanted to stand up for others. I wanted to be a hero and honestly to this day, that hasn’t changed. Now I seek to be a hero for Christ.
