Hi Chef! We are so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started C.A.M.P (Come And Make Peace) back in 2014, as I was graduating high school. Things began to take off when moving here in 2020 and meeting artists like Jay Laurent & KELGXD. Since then, we’ve been organizing events and concerts in the area, curating experiences that the city’s youth desperately need.
Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned? Looking back, has it been easy or smooth in retrospect?
There have, of course, been challenges. Funding isn’t easy, so we make do with what we have, keeping the DIY spirit alive. Truthfully, the most significant obstacles have been navigating the social game; friends turn to enemies. It can get pretty rough.
We’ve been impressed with Come And Make Peace (C.A.M.P), but for folks who might need to be more familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Come And Make Peace (C.A.M.P) is a community-based movement composed of independent artists of all disciplines; by facilitating growth & connection between local creatives, C.A.M.P is slowly building a network of resources and opportunities.
C.A.M.P is split into 3 main groups:
- C.A.M.P Events: Event Marketing/Organizing (Concerts, Raves, Parties, Etc.)
- C.A.M.P Media: Media Production/Distribution (Photo, Video, Graphic Design)
- C.A.M.P Radio: Music Curation/Podcasting
Can you talk to us about the role of luck?
I have never been lucky (unless you count bad luck). I have, however, been blessed with a strong work ethic and a will to move forward through any obstacle. Only through faith and constant improvement have we reached the point we are at now.
