Today we’d like to introduce you to David Anderson.
Hi David, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I went to college and graduated from Morris College in Sumter, South Carolina. My Major was Mass Communication; I have a Bachelor’s in Fine Arts. After graduating, I was set on moving somewhere else because there wasn’t a mass media state. I told myself, before doing so, to confirm the mass media. I first came across Wow Production; they were auditions for a stage play. Shortly after, I came across another production company doing the same, and that’s how the ball got rolling.
Would it have been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road wasn’t smooth, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. Everything, big or small, was learned through experiences. On-the-job training, if you will. Those lessons range from terminology to techniques. I don’t mind being the underdog, but sometimes it can be embarrassing/intimidating when in a room full of “experts.”
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m an actor and a performer. What comes easy to me is comedy. All my life, I’ve been the “funny” guy. I’m not the type of person that specializes in one thing. I’m decent in everything. I’m pretty hard on myself in the present moments, but when I look back, I’m most proud of how I have overcome everything that was once seen as impossible/unfair. My ability to not see status, rank, or job titles sets me apart from others.
Are any books, apps, podcasts, or blogs that help you do your best?
I don’t have a favorite book, podcast, or blog. I like a little bit of everything, but no favorites. Jenifer Lewis “The Mother of Black Hollywood’ was an amazing read.
