Exploring Life & Business with Denzell Riley of Natural Sounds Production Company

Today we’d like to introduce you to Denzell Riley.

Denzell Riley

Hi Denzell, I am so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, how can you bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I grew up in the church as a pastor’s kid. Our church didn’t have a sound engineer, so I had no choice but to learn. That’s how I initially got into running sound. As I grew up, I started to take it more seriously. In 2017, I started my company, Natural Sounds, which became Natural Sounds Production Company. Later that year, I started working with another local audio company, Southern Lighting and Sound. It was there that I learned the craft the correct way. In 2020, I worked full-time at my business. Over the years, I’ve been able to work with several event planners, local bands, churches, and businesses. That’s what keeps me thriving.

Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned? Looking back, has it been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Since I had the proper training by working with another company, things have gone smoothly. It was like going to college to prepare myself for my journey.

Let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Natural Sounds is your one-stop shop for all of your event production needs. We specialize in audio, lighting, backline, video, recording, and more. We provide professional gear with professionally trained technicians. We aim to bring the client’s vision to life by offering quality services to enhance their event.

Networking and finding a mentor can positively impact one’s life and career. Any advice?
I strongly believe in finding a mentor. I sat under BJ Brown of Southern Lighting and Sound for five years. He taught me the ins and outs of the production industry, which made my road easier.
