Hi Lauren, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
Drawing from a formal education in photography and nearly a decade dedicated to capturing the essence of weddings, I’ve discovered that true beauty and romance unfold in the authenticity of the moment—the unscripted, genuine instances. It’s the unposed magic, like the tearful joy as you both lock eyes for the first time on that particular day or the flower girl’s whimsical detour down the aisle. It’s grandma stepping onto the dance floor, perhaps for the first time, that truly encapsulates the heart and soul of these cherished occasions. Today, I work in the Charleston wedding industry and occasionally work at destination weddings. The Charleston Wedding industry is robust and full of life. I am lucky to have landed in a fantastic market with unique talents.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
In the creative realm, the path isn’t sometimes linear. It’s a journey marked by growth, evolution, and continuous learning, especially as the wedding industry changes. With over a decade of experience, I’ve embraced the twists and turns of this journey, learning and adapting along the way. I am confident in my skills and abilities today, but I recognize the importance of remaining adaptable and staying abreast of industry developments. So, with that, I wouldn’t necessarily call them struggles, but learning not only to evolve but also to remain true to who I am as a photographer.
Let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a professional wedding and lifestyle photographer in Charleston, South Carolina. While my primary focus is on capturing weddings, I also offer photography services for diverse clients, including family and maternity sessions. In addition to my commissioned work, I also have a passion for travel photography, which I often showcase through prints available. It’s a meaningful way to share my unique world perspective with others. While I am widely recognized for my expertise in wedding photography, I also take pride in my proficiency in film photography. The film captures moments extraordinarily, offering an unparalleled aesthetic and unparalleled depth. This commitment to preserving the purity and authenticity of each moment drives my continued use of film in my work.

From spending quality time with my son to exploring new destinations and collecting magnets as souvenirs, I find happiness in various simple pleasures. Whether it’s organizing my home while listening to 90s hip-hop or 70s classics or enjoying the refreshing simplicity of an ice-cold Coca-Cola on a wedding day, I believe in cherishing life’s small joys. Moreover, working with my clients brings me immense happiness. Their trust in me to capture such significant moments in their lives fills me with joy and gratitude.
