My name is Sam Gibson, and I am a first-generation college student from Sioux Falls, SD. I studied mechanical engineering and engineering management at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. While at University, I founded the American Society of Mechanical Engineering Chapter in Nebraska. It grew from 4 to over 200 members in 4 years. This group focuses on providing individuals in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) with the opportunity to engage in high-profile research opportunities, networking events with highly desirable employers (Companies that did not think of coming to Nebraska before), and community service efforts to give back to those in need.
Ultimately, I was awarded two Global/International Engineering awards, which opened my eyes to entrepreneurship and taught me how to build an effective organization. This led me to Charleston, SC, to leverage my mechanical engineering & management skillset to create a highly effective Plumbing & HVAC company called “Blue Collars.” We are quickly rising as a top service provider in the greater Charleston Area and are eager to expand continually. On top of this, I am also the Founder/CEO of Gibson Media LLC and Gibson Brand LLC, based in Charleston.
