Inspiring Conversations with Anthony Broyles of Braking Bad Mobile Auto Repair

Today we’d like to introduce you to Anthony Broyles.

Anthony Broyles

Hi Anthony, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Years ago, I moved from NJ to PA to attend Universal Technical Institute for automotive repair. I worked at the local Ford dealership during my training, getting first-hand experience. Upon completing my training, I moved back to NJ and began working at another Ford dealership. I spent over ten years there and became a master technician. At the end of 2021, we were getting ready to welcome our fourth child when my wife and I decided we wanted a change. I worked 9-5, and my wife and I would trade off, and then she would work 6-10 pm. We were ready to enjoy the sunshine even in the winter and wanted to try something new. Our house sold faster than we could have imagined, and in just two short months, we were beginning our move to Summerville, SC. Upon arrival, we weren’t sure what we would do, but we knew we didn’t want to live the same life we left. We checked out a few local dealerships, but they needed to be a fit. That’s when we decided to offer something unique to our community. No more long lines, no more trekking kids to a shop- we were going to bring the shop to you. We did not know we needed to learn how to start a business, let alone how to run one, but with the support of our community and trial and error, we truly found our niche. At first, we just started with brake repair, which quickly became full service, including oil changes, battery replacements, tune-ups, and much more. We are as family-owned and operated as it gets. Our daughters love snapping pictures when they see dad working in the neighborhood, and our son loves helping put together estimates and ordering parts. Our youngest son, who is two, absolutely loves going into the parts store to pick out oil filters! We couldn’t be where we are today without the continuous support of our community here in Summerville.

It wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Not. Everything was a learning curve and so new to us. Our biggest challenge as a dedicated small business is finding a good work/life balance. We appreciate and want our customers to feel like family, so we strive to offer the best customer service. But with that comes answering messages and calls 7 days a week, all hours of the day and night.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We bring the vehicle maintenance and repairs to your doorstep. We service the Summerville area and offer many services, from oil changes and tire rotations to brakes, tune-ups, and more. Our mobile oil changes are our most popular service. We are known for our timely, efficient, and convenient services. Our dedication to serving our community makes us stand out from others. With extensive training, you can relax knowing your vehicle is in good hands. We are very proud of this small business we created from a dream. It has been providing for our family of six for almost two years now, and we keep growing by the day.

Have you learned any exciting or essential lessons due to the COVID-19 crisis?
The COVID-19 Pandemic has taught us a lot personally and professionally. Your job can be put on hold anytime, affecting your livelihood. Professionally, we saw the potential of providing a virtually contactless service to customers who probably weren’t leaving home much now. With the increase of people working from home after the pandemic, why not offer a convenient service that would allow them not to interrupt their day? Many of our customers are stay-at-home moms and people who work from home.
