Today we’d like to introduce you to Famous Richie.
Hi, Famous Richie; thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was born and raised in Columbia, South Carolina, and started making music because my sister was a singer. So whenever she left the house, I would sneak on her computer. One day, I decided to take music seriously, and my passion grew. I was in elementary school performing at talent shows, which translated to me performing at high school talent shows. When I enrolled in College, music took off for me. I was known for rapping and DJing. Fast forward to now, I’ve been on several tours with big-time artists, performed at Homecoming’s, etc.
It wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Nothing in life is a “Smooth Road,” but ups and downs are part of the journey. Challenging moments build character. I lost my grandparents growing up; my cousin was killed in a shootout, and my best friends at the time suddenly fell out with me. And this list goes on and on. I’m just thankful for the ones who stayed and can reap the benefits of being loyal.
Thanks for sharing that. You could tell us more about your work.
I’m a hip-hop artist, but I’ve grown to be able to work with multiple genres and topics. I’ve been rapping my whole life. So, being able to perform in front of people now is second nature. I’m most proud of staying true to myself; I make the type of music I want to make. I’ve never followed trends at all. My sound is different from anyone I’ve heard. Being different is rare.
Please talk to us about happiness and what makes you happy.
What makes me happy is seeing my family and friends succeed. It sounds cliche, but it’s true. Knowing your friends are talented, knowing how hard they’ve worked to be successful, it’s rewarding to see them get the shine they deserve.
