Today we’d like to introduce you to Addie Wilson.

Addie Wilson

Thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, how did you get started?
Since high school, I knew I wanted a career in the skincare industry. While pregnant, I graduated high school early and started going to night school immediately. I worked during the day until I could no longer juggle both. I had my first son while only having a month or so left of schooling to obtain my Aesthetics License. I landed my first job at a local beach resort and worked there for many years. It gave me an incredible experience diving into all the services, including facials, full Body waxing, and bridal makeup. In this industry, finding the right job is challenging. I have worked at many salon/spas throughout my career. Nothing ever felt right until I decided to take a leap of faith into starting Meraki Aesthetics Bar. Meraki means to do something with soul, creativity, or love; to put something of yourself in your work. I feel this reflects my passion for my services I offer. I am very determined to make my business a success. This industry is very competitive and saturated, so I am thankful for every client who chooses me.

My services are performed in a private suite for my client’s comfort. I offer a luxury skincare brand called Eminence Organics, an environmentally friendly product line based in Hungary. I knew when I opened my own business this would be my choice. I’ve personally been using it ever since 2010. Other services include full body waxing, eyelash extensions, lash lifts, brow Laminations, tinting, and more! I even have an area for permanent jewelry, which is trending now. I am devoted to providing the best service possible to my clients and continue learning new trends every year. It is a blessing to wake up, do what I love every day, and have a personal relationship with each client. There isn’t anything more rewarding.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
In every job I’ve had, there have been issues. Nowhere is perfect, and growing a new clientele at new jobs was always tricky. Most esthetics jobs are commission-based, so I wouldn’t get paid if I didn’t have clients.

We’ve been impressed with Meraki Aesthetics Bar, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share about what you do and what sets you apart?
I opened Meraki Aesthetics Bar in March of 2022. I specialize in organic skincare, lash extensions, and full-body waxing, but I offer much more! I care about my clients and make it a point to get to know everyone. It is essential to me to have that client relationship. Some come in to unwind, rest, or have a mini therapy session about their life; many also know about my life. I am proud to be a woman-owned small business and look forward to meeting anyone who books with me! Making someone feel beautiful or more confident about themselves is what I love.

Have you learned any exciting or essential lessons due to the COVID-19 crisis?
I lost many clients due to COVID-19, so I appreciate the extra time I spent supporting my small business. The economy is struggling right now, and my services are considered a luxury, but everyone deserves some self-care, whatever that may look like!
