Today we’d like to introduce you to Yvanna Vicks.
Hi, Yvanna; we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
During the 2020 COVID-19 quarantine mandate, my colleague and I discovered a need for accessible mental health services. As chaotic as the timing may have seemed, we saw a perfect opportunity to start a virtual private practice. My colleague and I decided to name our practice Revive Counseling and Consulting to remind the world that we would recover from the state that COVID-19 had left the world in. Today, I am co-owner of Revive Counseling, offering neurodiversity-affirming couples and individual counseling. I have also provided mental health consultation and training services to K-12 educators. Recess for Teachers is a popular training I have facilitated for school board representatives and educators. The training offered educator burnout prevention strategies in school settings.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
As a first-generation entrepreneur, discovering the ins and outs of running a business was challenging. One struggle I recall was navigating how to maintain a healthy work-life balance. Through mentorship and training, I learned that my values will guide my priorities. This lesson helped me address the importance of workplace boundaries. Over time, my commitments became more intentional, and my “no’s” became less flexible.
We’ve been impressed with Revive Counseling and Consultation, but for folks who might need to be more familiar, what can you share about what you do and what sets you apart?
Revive Counseling and Consultation is a virtual private practice. At Revive, I specialize in neurodiversity-affirming couples counseling and burnout prevention consultation services. What sets Revive apart from other counseling services is that we provide compassionate, flexible counseling from the comfort of your home. Additionally, our background in counseling helps us conceptualize organizational problems through ethical and empathetic lenses. I am most proud of our ability to offer compassionate professionalism. Readers should know that their voices will be prioritized and heard at Revive.
Who else deserves credit for your story?
My colleague, co-owner of Revive Victoria Rodriguez, deserves credit for this organization as she contributes equally to our practice. I honor God as the reason for my success and connections to mentors, family support, and cheerleaders.
