In 2015, Sarah Rosenthal kickstarted The Wag Factor to respond to her quest for passion and fulfillment beyond the confines of her office job. Fueled by a deep love for animals, she set out to create a business that not only brought joy to people but also catered to the well-being of their cherished pets. The Wag Factor loves helping the Mount Pleasant community and surrounding areas with dog walks for working folks. Since its establishment, The Wag Factor has been a source of comfort for local pet parents, easing the stress associated with caring for their furry friends; specializing in daily dog walks, our primary goal is to assist the busy working class in taking care of their pups recognizing the importance of exercise and attention for dogs, our services contribute to good weight management, alleviate boredom, encourage socialization, and ultimately lead to less stress, resulting in fewer messes. The Wag Factor has an established team of walkers passionate about providing services. Our walkers undergo extensive online and in-person training and are Pet CPR certified. We take pride in having many long-term walkers who have been with us for several years. The Wag Factor offers an enjoyable and unique job experience that focuses on superior customer service, a love for animals, and keeping our clients fully informed about every visit we do, with pictures and a report card included! It’s our mission to help our clients be away from home, worry-free. We take their business extremely seriously and love providing peace of mind to our beloved clients!
It wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
When I first started, I never had plans to create a team or something beyond myself. When it got so busy that I was turning away business, I knew it was time to hire help. At that time, my business provided an extensive array of services. I decided to narrow it down to midday dog walks, catering to working individuals and no longer giving out-of-town services. By doing this, I got clear on my ideal client. In building a team, I provided an outstanding work-life balance to my team members because our busiest time of day is 10 am-3 pm. It was a lot of trial and error to figure out how to manage employees, have payroll, complete my taxes, etc. But everything is figure-table! I’m so grateful for my process and for not giving up when it felt hard.

The Wag Factor specializes in daily dog walks in the Mount Pleasant area. We aim to help the busy, working-class community care for their pups when they can’t be home. We are known for being reliable and punctual, providing top-notch customer service, and loving your pets! We work as a team, so if you have a walk scheduled with us, we guarantee someone will be there for it. We meet every client to ensure they would be the right fit for us. We focus on being the best because we are so specific in our services! I’m very proud of the brand and reputation I’ve created. It’s my mission to keep things simple; we have an excellent client portal system where clients have complete control of their schedule and will receive updates after every visit. Within that system, they can communicate with their walker, change their profile, and pay via credit card. It is simple and seamless! Our focus is on our clients’ pets and always providing the best possible visit!
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
I’m married to my awesome husband, Noah, and we have the two best pups we could ask for, Moe and Louie! We love to be outside, explore Charleston, go to the beach, work out, and try new restaurants. Along with my passion for animals, I love health and wellness and teaching others how to feel their best via coaching! I’m very multi-passionate and love to create things! I’m entrepreneurial and have always enjoyed marching to the beat of my drum. I love meeting people and getting to know their stories!
