Today we’d like to introduce you to Alex Winebarger and David Waterhouse
Hi Alex and David, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
After the release of the documentary, RANGER, Further Faster Harder Foundation was created to give veterans a platform to tell their stories and find their purpose and voice again through documentaries, books, art, and many other avenues.
Our family was lucky David came home, and we were able to hear what he and his fellow Rangers endured, not every family gets that. David had a platform to tell his story and be able to help others, not every veteran does.
We understand both sides of the situation and now see it as an obligation to help the veterans who came home find their voice, but also to carry their fallen with us and make sure their voices are heard, too.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No, it has not been a short or easy road. This process started 25 years ago when my older brother, David, made the decision to join the 75th Ranger Regiment following 9/11.
The turns over the last 25 years for both of us are too much to fill in but it all culminated in 2022 when he worked with a local studio to release a documentary of his time in the Rangers.
There has been heartache, sacrifice, and obstacles, but also a lot laughs, good lessons and memories and relationships.
As you know, we’re big fans of FFH Foundation. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
We are a Veteran Non Profit organization. Our main mission is to give Voices to Vets. Our main avenue currently is documentaries to highlight the adversity and resiliency of veterans in their endeavors.
What sets us apart is the fact we have both veterans and civilians in our family and organization, so we are able to look at the issues on a full spectrum of understanding and make decisions to help veterans with the platform we have created.
We want the readers to understand the level of complexity surrounding veteran issues, such as PTS, and that it is not a simple fix. The burdens both veterans and their families live with go unspoken and we truly believe the documentaries give a glimpse into what really comes home with them and lingers after war.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
We both had normal childhoods, along with our sister. We all played in the woods, played competitive sports from soccer to baseball to basketball. We tried out most things and were loyal to our friends. We lived a fairly normal childhood.
