Today we’d like to introduce you to Tamera Alexandra Nesmith.
Hi Tamera Alexandra; it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for sharing your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
I am a 2020 graduate of Southeastern Esthetics Institute located in Columbia, SC. I learned many skill sets at school, such as facial/body massage techniques, aromatherapy, product/ingredient knowledge, waxing, eyebrow sculpting, sanitation, and more.
I have over 8+ years of customer service experience working in the healthcare field. I plan to incorporate my knowledge of servicing others, attentiveness to detail, passion for technical training, and love of natural beauty aesthetics within my business venture.
EarthTone Beauty came to life as a future spa business and a brand lifestyle. I want to incorporate inner beauty, confidence, and wellness into the fold. As people worldwide learn to heal their minds, bodies, and soul, I want to create products that bring forth physical and mental consciousness with sensational scents and effective skincare evolution. Inner and outer beauty should be an important aspect of one’s life.
My 5-year plan: Own and operate a luxury spa establishment focusing on facials, body treatments, and waxing. I will continue to curate products for my future customers and skincare clients.
Would it have been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I think being an entrepreneur is more than “making money.” You have to be mentally and financially prepared. It is important to set a budget, especially if you are using your own money to start a business initially. Write down everything you want for your business, and as you research the cost of an item, ingredients, or service, add your “working time,” profits v losses, merchant services, branding photoshoot, reading materials, paper products, etc. It can be overwhelming, but having a timeline and pacing yourself is important. You won’t become rich overnight, but the entrepreneurship journey is worth the reward. When you have an idea for a business, find your target audience and figure out what marketing techniques work best for you! Overall, the last two years have not been easy, but as I learn, I am grateful to help others!
Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about EarthTone Beauty?
“Earth Tone Beauty” was a name birthed from developing my identity throughout my late teens and early 20s, realizing my natural beauty comes from deep within a journey of self-reflection how I created the name: “Earth” which is a cultivated sphere of various elements, “Tone” referring to the atmosphere of respectability or class, and “Beauty” which promotes attractiveness—using naturally organic products and technology to achieve professional results of even-toned, balanced skin for everyone. Beautiful skin and a relaxed body can enhance natural confidence to perform optimally in every aspect of a person’s life.
Mission statement: Providing clients with mind, body, and skincare for personal enhancement of confidence.
“A Down to Earth experience with harmonious tone.”
Vision Statement: A luxury spa experience catering to various skin types using a combination of plant and science-based ingredients, including technology, restoring the skin to its natural beauty.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
I may have been born in South Carolina, but my mother and grandparents in Georgia raised me. I danced for 8 years at the Cutno Dance Center (in Augusta, GA); I graduated from the Academy of Richmond County in 2013 located in Augusta, GA. I played clarinet for 7 years and was the second-highest-ranking cadet officer in my high school’s JROTC program. And yes, I met Tiger Woods at the Masters Golf Tournament. I returned home to Columbia, SC, back in 2017 and worked professionally as a licensed pharmacy technician and licensed esthetician.
