Rising Stars: Meet Wade Johnson of Moncks Corner

Today we’d like to introduce you to Wade Johnson.

Hi Wade, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am new to the Charleston area and new to HOA. We moved here from Minnesota 2 years ago to escape the cold weather. I then learned rather quickly that I had to do something about my trash bin’s smell between the Charleston heat and the HOA rules. I started exploring cleaning options and found a few manufacturers that made a specialized trailer to clean the bins and recycle the water. I then realized there would be a need for this industry in the area, seeing that no big companies do this. So my family decided to get behind the idea and move forward with a purchase of a trailer, and that started Superior Washing.

Please talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned. Looking back, has it been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road has been a little bumpy. We currently need help with advertising and educating the public, as I am still working full-time to pay the bills until we can create enough cash flow from the business.

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
For most of my life, I have been involved in welding. I started at a manufacturing facility at 18 and still work in one currently 18 years later. In the years of welding, I was a volunteer fireman in MN for 10 years, where I worked my way to rescue captain. I also took a break from welding for 2 years and worked as a heavy equipment operator installing drain tiles in agricultural fields.

How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
The most help I could use is to spread the word about Superior Washing.
