Inspiring Conversations with Mark and Chanel Gargula of Charleston Bareboat Charters

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mark and Chanel Gargula.

Hi Mark and Chanel, having you on the platform is an honor. Thanks for sharing your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
Covid hit Rhode Island, where my wife channel and I lived. We wanted a way to create our hobby and share it with others. We had lots of time at home, where we started our master plan—moving to SC for a better life and more opportunities.

Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Nock on wood; it has been a smooth process. The biggest struggles were ensuring all the business start-up procedures were in place, from legal, insurance, marketing, and so on. It truly is a big expense.

Thanks for sharing that. So, you could tell us a bit more about your business.
Charleston Bareboat charters is a boat that folks can take out on their own if they meet underwriting criteria. Why waste time and money keeping up a boat from washing, waxing, launching, and patience? We do that all for you. What sets us apart is that we spent a lot of money on our logos and marketing material. We are trying to sell an experience, not just a boat ride.

What would you say has been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
Just how many friends and connections I had that helped along the way from logos, website, to legal and insurance
