Today we’d like to introduce you to Tatiana Yagecic.
Hi Tatiana, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I was introduced to business at an early age when my dad opened his first restaurant in Slovakia, where I’m from. It was fun to learn the ins and outs of different Food & Beverage operations in my teenage years thanks to the fast pace of the industry and my unwavering positive energy. Welcoming the opportunity to move to the US, my future changed significantly. I nannied for my sister and pursued a Hospitality degree. My now-husband Andy reached out to me on MySpace (that probably gives you an idea of how long ago that was) just a few months after the move, and the idea of returning home to work with my dad went out the window. My determination was proven when I became an honors graduate from Johnson and Wales University in Charlotte, NC. The private club industry is where most of my work experiences there were in. Our years in North Carolina were amazing, leading to many great trips down to Charleston, SC. That’s how we fell in love with the city. Even though there were many roadblocks and detours in between, I couldn’t be happier to call it my home now and raise our kids here. What better city to live in for a foodie and an outdoor lover than Charleston?! Having the experience of starting and operating various businesses but looking for a better work/life balance, I was thrilled about the connection to Best Business Brokers when we moved to the Lowcountry. I initially joined the Brokerage as a Marketing Director but quickly got the offer to become a Business Broker licensed in Real Estate. I’ve since enjoyed helping various business owners and buyers achieve their goals. Seeing that perfect match is an incredibly rewarding experience. It won’t get old anytime soon. Naturally, my main focus is on Food & Beverage, and Hospitality operations. This industry has been at the forefront of most of my career, and I’m thrilled to be able to utilize my expertise to assist entrepreneurs in realizing their dreams. My primary aim is to help business owners maximize the cashout they get for their company when they’re ready to sell.
Would it have been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It’s all about who you know and who knows about you, so building that network in a new city took time. When I first became a Broker, our then 4-year-old was only in preschool for two half days a week. It was a slow start until she got into full-time school. Looking back, I’m glad the perseverance has paid off, and I had a fantastic partner to support me.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next, you can tell us more about your business.
Best Business Brokers are the most connected resource for buyers and sellers seeking business sales and acquisitions in South Carolina and Georgia. With decades of combined experience, premium marketing reach, and a strong focus on confidentiality, the B3 team provides the highest level of personalized service to both business sellers and buyers alike to help fulfill their dreams. I specialize in ensuring successful entrepreneurs are prepared for the process and get the highest amount possible for their years of hustling when they’re ready to move on from their business. The Food & Beverage industry will always be close to my heart, and leveraging my experience to benefit those business owners is hugely important. Most business sales professionals are substantially older and male. I offer a different, more current perspective. There’s an evident lack of information out there about the steps to take and things to be on a lookout for when selling a business. My social media is full of insights into the business selling process to help entrepreneurs get a big fat check when they’re ready to sell. You can find me on Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and YouTube by searching for The Cashout Concierge.
Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
It breaks my heart to see so many local restaurants close over the last few years because their owners got burnt out. I want to encourage all entrepreneurs to think of an exit strategy early on and explore selling instead of closing the doors. Plenty of eager buyers are waiting to take over an existing business instead of starting from scratch. Why not capitalize on that and walk away with something to show for the hustle while allowing your legacy to continue? You can’t run your business forever. Having a plan will make a big difference. If you’re not at that point yet but know you’ll be selling in the next few years, you can maximize your cashout in many ways. Make sure you educate yourself.
