Hidden Gems: Meet Tiana Hawk

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiana Hawk.

Hi Tiana, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started JMA Pretty Little Things back in 2020, with no clue where to start. I was literally up all night doing research and going through different vendors. I started making slides and was doing great just for a beginner. I realize that really wasn’t my passion. I started taking extra money out of my checks and investing in products. In my mind I was like “I don’t know what I’m doing, but this is my calling”, so I started to do a lot of research on products, the benefits of the products, watching YouTube videos and Pinterest.

I started trying different vendors and investing a lot of money trying to find the proper products for the services I wanted to provide. Although I had and still do have more support from strangers than the people I know, I continue to keep going and striving. I continue to promote my business every day. My client started rolling in due to promoting every day.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Having a business can be challenging. You have busy days, and you have slow days. Never go into a business thinking your family and friends will support you or help promote you. Your number 1 promoters will be strangers. I sometimes have days where I’m not motivated and want to quit, due to it can be very overwhelming. You have items that you think will be a hit because you get feedback and are told “I’ll like to purchase”, but once launch that item doesn’t get purchased. Having a business is about taking a risk. I’ve made so much money and lost a lot of money. You will run into trial and error, which is okay. How would you learn if you don’t make errors? It’s all a learning experience.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about JMA Pretty Little Things?
I offer natural skin care products for an affordable price. I do a poll where I allow my customers to name one of our products. Once I choose a name that I like, I’ll send the consumer who names our product a free product of what they named. Every order comes with a customer appreciation gift. I get so excited that I can provide customers with great quality products for an affordable price. I also have a birthday program where I provide 40% off to show my appreciation because if it wasn’t for my customers, I wouldn’t have a business.

We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
The most important thing I learned during Covid-19 is always prepared and patient. It taught me to never say ‘What can’t happen”.
