Rising Stars: Meet Justus Cox

Today we’d like to introduce you to Justus Cox.

Hi Justus, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My story began five years before I entered this world. Long story short I was adopted and I did not find out until my sophomore year of college. Although this was a devastating blow in my life, it also helped to open my eyes to God’s purpose for my life. Humility becomes easy when you realize that you are only here because of the prayers of others and not your own power. Serving others also becomes easy, and that is why God has elevated me to certain places in my life and it is only the beginning.

I have been in leadership roles since high school, but I also understand that leadership is so much more than a role or a title. Currently, I am a 5th-grade teacher and have been teaching for the past five years. I have also been able to help birth a mentoring organization for young men, Young Brothers Academy. Young Brothers Academy works with young men in grades 8th – 12th with a focus on education, empowerment, and exposure.

I am also married to Brittney Cox, and we have just recently had our first daughter, Tylar Renee Cox.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My struggles along the way include watching drugs tear my family apart, being homeless, finding out I was adopted, and almost dropping out of college.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am aspiring to be a global motivational speaker, planting seeds of hope in our youth and others who may need it.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Being able to clap for other’s blessings while you are still in the waiting room for yours has been the most important secret to my current success.,
