Exploring Life & Business with Jeremy Howard of Max Purpose Academy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeremy Howard.

Hi Jeremy, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Jeremy Howard and my mission in life is to bring hope, encourage others and to inspire those with a hunger to make their dreams become a reality. I enjoy helping the youth reach their full potential with my passion for the game of basketball that has allowed me to play and coach at an elite level.

I was born and raised in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. In growing up with the game of basketball, I was able to win a state championship at Myrtle Beach High School and the team finished the season 30-1, which ranked them 23rd in the nation in the 2002 USA Today High School rankings. I later went on to receive a scholarship to continue his athletic career at North Greenville University. Not only did I excelled in playing basketball, but also at running cross country for the university.

I had the opportunity to go play in the Dominican Republic on a tour team called “Chase The Dream Pro Tour” that competed against various professional teams throughout the country in cities such as La Vega and Santiago. Not limiting myself, I also had taken my basketball knowledge from playing in various professional basketball leagues throughout the United States such as the American Basketball Association (ABA), Tobacco Road Basketball League (TRBL), East Coast Basketball League (ECBL), and turned it into a coaching profession. I had an experience including my stint at Brescia University (KY) as the Men’s and Women’s Assistant Basketball Coach.

Also having the opportunity to go abroad and coach the Kontakt Festival Proem Basketball Camp in Lodz, POLAND. Not only taking my coaching profession internationally, I had an opportunity to coach the Philadelphia 76ers NBA summer youth basketball camp and I am affiliated with the Jr. NBA youth basketball organization. I have been gaining opportunities to coach at various clinics, a couple of Men Semi-Professional basketball teams such as the Florence Wildcats (Florence, S.C.), Coastal Elite Pirates (Myrtle Beach, S.C.), and also international combines with well-known organizations such as Breakthrough Basketball and the Overseas Basketball Combines.

Recently I was coaching in Chongqing, CHINA as the Head Player Development Basketball Coach with the United States Basketball Academy. Currently, I’m

affiliated with the Horry County School System where I am the Head Girls Assistant Varsity Basketball Coach and the Head Boys Tennis Coach at Myrtle Beach High School which is located in my hometown of Myrtle Beach, S.C.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
This journey has been a Rollercoaster ride but I wouldn’t change anything about it. Growing up I wanted to play in the NBA and travel the world teaching basketball to youth but life has its way of challenging you when it comes to your dreams or goals. I’ve learned that you have to be dedicated to your passion no matter what circumstances might be surrounding you at that very moment.

Looking back over my life now I would say everything became smoother for me when I focused more on coaching and helping individuals develop their basketball skills and not so much of me focused on continuing to play the game of basketball for myself. Job opportunities opened up quicker, networking with different coaches and businesses became so much easier for me. I’ve learned that if you allow your Passion to become your Purpose then one day it will become your Profession.

We’ve been impressed with Max Purpose Academy, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
