Hi Courtney, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started HelioSkintrix Skin & Beauty Studio in 2020 with a passion for helping people feel more confident through self-care. What began with me providing waxing and sugaring services has grown into a full beauty business serving clients in both Marion and Florence, South Carolina.
Building my business has required me to learn far more than esthetics. I’ve had to become a leader, marketer, problem-solver, trainer, and business owner while continuing to perfect my craft and create an experience that keeps clients coming back. Over the years, I’ve expanded my services, grown my team, created opportunities for other licensed estheticians, and continued investing in education so that HelioSkintrix could grow beyond just one person.
Today, I operate two locations with a growing team and a loyal client base, and HelioSkintrix has been recognized as a Best of South Carolina Hair Removal Specialist for two consecutive years. I’m proud of those accomplishments, but I’m even more proud that something I started from my own vision has become a brand that supports my community, provides employment opportunities, and helps clients feel comfortable and confident in their skin.
I’m now focused on the next stage of growth, including expanding the business, strengthening my team, continuing my education, and creating an even stronger foundation for HelioSkintrix to grow for years to come.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road has definitely not been completely smooth. One of the biggest challenges has been learning how to grow a business while also growing personally as a business owner. In the beginning, I was responsible for nearly everything myself, from providing services and managing clients to marketing, inventory, finances, scheduling, and problem-solving behind the scenes.
As the business grew, so did the responsibilities. Expanding into multiple locations, building a team, managing payroll, maintaining consistent client experiences, and navigating unexpected expenses have all required me to adapt quickly. There have also been moments when equipment failed, building issues interrupted business, expenses increased, or plans simply did not go the way I expected.
Another challenge has been learning how to delegate and lead a team while still protecting the standards and reputation I worked hard to build. Entrepreneurship has taught me that growth does not always look glamorous. Sometimes it looks like making difficult decisions, solving problems in real time, and continuing to show up even when things feel uncertain.
Every challenge has helped me become more resourceful, disciplined, and intentional about the way I operate HelioSkintrix. Instead of allowing obstacles to stop me, I’ve used them as opportunities to improve my systems, strengthen my leadership, and build a business that can continue growing beyond me.

HelioSkintrix is a skin and beauty studio specializing in waxing, sugaring, facials, skincare treatments, and intimate skincare services. We currently serve clients in both Marion and Florence, South Carolina, with a focus on creating a comfortable, welcoming experience where clients can feel confident, cared for, and never judged.
We are especially known for Brazilian waxing and sugaring, but what truly sets HelioSkintrix apart is the experience surrounding the service. I have always wanted the brand to feel personal, memorable, and elevated, from the way clients are welcomed to the small details, seasonal experiences, client gifts, and education we provide.
I am proud that HelioSkintrix has grown from a business I started on my own into a multi-location brand with a team of licensed estheticians and support staff. We have also been recognized as a Best of South Carolina Hair Removal Specialist for two consecutive years, which means a great deal because it reflects the trust our clients have placed in us.
More than anything, I want people to know that HelioSkintrix is about confidence and self-care. Our goal is not simply to provide a beauty service, but to create an experience where every client feels comfortable in their skin and looks forward to coming back.
How do you define success?
I define success as freedom. Freedom to build a life and career that reflect who I am, freedom to make choices without feeling trapped by finances or circumstances, and freedom to enjoy the life I am working so hard to create.
Financial stability and business growth are important to me, but they are not the end goal. I want HelioSkintrix to create opportunities for my team, serve my community, and continue growing without requiring me to be physically present for every part of the business.
Success, to me, is being able to step back and see that something I once imagined has become sustainable, impactful, and bigger than just me. I want the freedom to travel, continue learning, explore new opportunities, and live fully while knowing that the business I built is still thriving.
Ultimately, success is freedom, stability, impact, and ownership of my time.
