Hi Quilann, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My business grew out of love for vibrant flavors and great company. I started Q Smoke hookah & slushy service because I saw a perfect opportunity to combine rich custom blends with refreshing icy treats, creating the perfect centerpiece for social gatherings and unforgettable events.
I launched my nonprofit, Queens Empower because I believe in the power of potential. I believe that building a thriving business requires more than just capital or advice; it deserves consistent encouragement.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Moving operations from Columbia to Moncks Corner represents an exciting strategic pivot, but it comes with a steep learning curve. Moncks Corner is a town where relationships and word of mouth are everything. Re-establishing brand visibility and capturing local market share in a new region has required building trust brick-by-brick proving that geographic growth is nothing without deep community integration.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
If you look at my weekend plans, you would easily mistake me for someone who lives for the noise. People see me out at crowded venues, socializing under dim venue lights, and matching the high energy of a busy room, so they assume that the nightlife is where I feel most alive. My friends know me as the outgoing one, the person always ready for the next event. But what they don’t see is that the version of me running on high battery in public is only half the story.
My true sanctuary isn’t a packed dance floor or a loud lounge—it is the complete silence of a living room shared with the people who matter most.
There is an unmatched comfort in shedding the public expectations and just being still with my loved ones. While the nightlife offers excitement, it cannot compete with the deep, uninterrupted conversations, the shared laughter over a casual dinner, or the simple peace of watching a movie together on the couch. For me, navigating a busy social scene makes these quiet, domestic moments even more sacred. It is in these calm spaces, surrounded by the people who truly know me, where I actually recharge and find my genuine happiness.
