Today we’d like to introduce you to Rodney Creel.
Rodney, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’ve always had a connection to music, and for me it started in a small church where my dad was the pastor. I grew up singing and playing guitar there, learning how powerful music could be when it brings people together. Those early Sundays taught me a lot — not just about performing, but about heart, emotion, and the way a song can make someone feel seen.
As I got older, that foundation turned into playing for friends, family, and small gatherings. Eventually I worked up the nerve to get on a stage outside of church, and that first real gig changed everything. I realized how much I loved connecting with people through songs — whether it was a cover everyone knew or something I had written myself. From there, I kept pushing forward, playing more shows, improving my sound, and figuring out who I was as an artist.
In the last couple of years, things really started to grow. I began performing regularly around Charleston, both solo and with my band Route 15. We’ve built a reputation for putting on a fun, high‑energy country show that still has a personal, storytelling feel. Every venue, every crowd, every new opportunity has helped shape me into the artist I’m becoming.
My journey hasn’t been overnight — it’s been a mix of hard work, learning on the fly, and staying committed to the idea that music is something worth chasing. I’m proud of how far things have come, and I’m excited about where it’s heading next
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Plenty of ups and downs. From a failed experience with a manager who promised to open up doors and then cut off communication to losing my voice and having to cancel a gig at one of the biggest venues in Charleston South Carolina. The road has definitely been challenging but my love of music and performing has never wavered.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a country singer and guitarist based in the Charleston area, performing both as a solo artist and with my band, Route 15. My shows blend modern country, classics, and heartfelt originals, and I’ve become known for creating a genuine connection with the crowd — whether it’s a high‑energy night at a bar or a more intimate acoustic set.
What I’m most proud of is the path that led me here. That foundation still shapes the way I perform today. I want people to feel something real when they hear me — whether it’s joy, nostalgia, or just the sense that they’re part of the moment.

I’m not trying to be someone else on stage — I’m just sharing the songs that mean something to me and delivering them in a way that feels personal. Over time, that authenticity has helped me build a loyal following around the Lowcountry, and it’s opened doors to bigger opportunities. I’m grateful for every step of the journey, and I’m excited to keep growing as an artist.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
In music, consistency has helped me grow my voice, my confidence, and my presence on stage. It’s what pushed me to keep playing gigs, keep improving, and keep connecting with people through songs. There’s a lot of talent in the world, but I think the artists who stick around are the ones who stay committed day after day. That’s the trait that’s carried me from those early church performances to where I am now, and it’s the one that will keep me moving forward
