Today we’d like to introduce you to Debbie Wilson.
Hi Debbie, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I have always loved nature and beautifully crafted things. My design has always been heavily influenced by nature and travel. I wanted to create a place that feels like coming home. I love discovering places where beauty feels effortless& where the things people live with have a sense of history and purpose. Those influences naturally found their way into my design work& into the way I live. I have always believed it’s more how a room feels than simply to look good.The objects we use everyday have an enormous influence on the experience of home. When we moved to this community four years ago, I began thinking about what I could bring to it. I wanted to create a place that felt like a discovery. A place where you could find beautifully crafted things with a story behind them. A place that celebrated artisans who care deeply about what they make. A place where quality mattered, where tradition could sit comfortably beside modern design, and where the things you brought home would have a purpose beyond simply filling a space.
Secondly I wanted to create community. Since opening our doors, the shop has become a place to gather, learn, discover, and share- a place where conversations happen, makers are celebrated, gardens are talked about, and people can simply wander.
Everything in the shop is chosen through that same lens.
Some things are useful. Some are beautiful. Some remind you of a place you’ve traveled or a tradition you’ve loved. And some simply make everyday life feel a little better.
Together they tell a story about living well.
It is my hope that when you walk thru our doors, you don’t simply find something to buy. you find something worth bringing home. In the end it is about what happens around the things. Tables get set, gardens get tended, friends linger, meals are shared, memories are made, a house slowly becomes a home. That is what I hope Twig & Tweed will always be. We are not just a retail shop we are a lifestyle. The shop represents how I strive to live and things that bring value to a home.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Absolutely not, starting a business has so many moving parts and I’m wearing all the hats right now which can be a LOT sometimes. When we signed our lease it took almost nine months to open. Waiting for permits that we didn’t know at the time we needed (rezoning) then the entire building had to be rewired.
It felt like I would never get the doors open.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
My family & friends have always been my biggest supporters. Running a business and balancing all the hats requires sacrifice and time. Without them I definitely wouldn’t be able to do everything and travel to markets and work related commitments. I have had some amazing clients ( and some not so) I appreciate their trust and ability to stretch my creativity solving problems. My mom has always been an example of making a house a home. When we were young we moved quite a bit, but she made sure it was beautiful and welcoming. I have grown up with grandmothers, grandfathers and parents that have a love for gardening and an appreciation for nature and the peace it brings to your soul For that I am forever grateful.
