Today we’d like to introduce you to Sabrina Romero.
Hi Sabrina , so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
eARThly Minds Gallery was established in 2021, this was during the covid pandemic. I worked full time as a server all the way up until covid had hit in 2020, I was 8 months pregnant with my second son at that time . This had put so much into perspective for me, I couldn’t return back to work, which gave me time to really think about what I wanted for me and my children’s future. With society on hold , I dove into my art. I gave it my all , I started selling online and things took off. My dream was always to have my own art gallery, fast forward a year and that dream came true May of 2021 .
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been a roller coaster, business has survived a pandemic , a tragic hurricane that nearly wiped out WNC , wild fires, and the hardship of the economy. And through out it all I have met some of the most inspiring , kind and creative humans that is the glue that kept me going.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a mixed media artist , I started my creative journey in middle school by joining the dance team. Dance was my first creative expression , I danced for about 7 years. I come from an extremely creative family, my brother is an artist , my mother in an artist , my father is also very creative and artistic in many ways. So really it is a part of me and my up bringing. I moved to North Carolina from Miami when I was 14 years old, I couldn’t find a dance studio I liked so dance wasn’t much of an option anymore at least not in a school or in a studio. That’s when I started drawing and playing around with painting and collages, I found a new love. Now I am 33 years old, and 6 years ago I discovered resin. This medium has been so inspiring, I have been able to combine all my art forms into one. I use flowers , bugs, mushrooms, and create one of a kind magical nature scenes, unique wreaths with preserved mushrooms and flowers, and sometimes I create layered paintings in resin. The possibilities are endless !
