Conversations with Anderson Nance

Today we’d like to introduce you to Anderson Nance.

Hi Anderson, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Im standup comedian SauceGotJokes. I started doing comedy almost 8 years ago. During that time I realized how robotic my life had become. Simply going through the motions of work, sleep, rinse and repeat. Then one day I said to myself ” Im dang near 30 and haven’t lived any of my dreams yet”. That day I decided to try comedy. I went to my first open mic and it went horrible. But I was determined to do better. So I showed up the next week, and the next, and the next. So now here I am 8 years later traveling the country, producing my own shows, and inching closer to financial freedom doing what I love the most.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
This is the hardest thing I’ve ever done in my life. The hardest part is trying to justify the sacrifice it takes to ultimately become successful in this business. Imagine missing your 9 to 5 job in order to perform for chicken wings and 2 beers. So now your bills are backing up as you seemingly see no progress in your comedy journey. But believe it or not you are planting the seeds for long term success.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Im a standup comedian, writer, producer, and entrepreneur. My main source of income is the comedy shows I host and produce throughout the Carolinas. What sets me apart is that I’m willing to try new things such as variety shows, live music, game shows, etc.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
The Internet will continue to grow and take over more of the comedy space.
