Today we’d like to introduce you to Debbie Baisden.
Hi Debbie, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m a mom to 4 boys (Paul, Brad, Andrew, and Joshua, or “PBAndJ” for short) that I had in a span of four years. My home is full of volume, violence, and destruction at all times. How ironic that I never even wanted kids yet became a baby factory.
Unexpectedly widowed in 2012, my world was turned upside down. This devastation forced me to “put her money where her mouth is” with my walk with the Lord. He was still a good God and worthy of praise!
Clinging to God, my stay-at-home mom days now demanded a paying job. Instead of returning to the elementary classroom as a teacher, I decided that Chapter 2 of life meant pursuing my passion of fitness and nutrition. This was a frightening leap of faith, especially as sole breadwinner for my now-smaller family. But it brought me much joy to encourage other women that they could go from hating salads and avoiding sweat to loving self-care.
Soon after becoming a widow, “Momsanity” was born (because all moms are crazy), thanks to my sweet friend Emily’s vision. We focus on motherhood, faith, fitness and nutrition, the pillars that keep moms from losing their minds.
In addition, I enjoy helping busy women look and feel their best in my other online venture, “Fit With Deb.” With quick workouts, delicious meals, and a focus on living the fat-loss lifestyle, I’m living proof that we can be busy yet energetic and in shape!
I remarried in 2014 and live in North Carolina. I thrive on cuddling our rescue dogs, joking with my offspring, and watching trash TV with my new husband Jason. Staying anchored in Jesus through it all, my focus is “in His strength and for His glory.”
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I was widowed without warning in 2012. My husband was here one minute, then gone the next. Our sons were 8, 7, 4, and 4 at the time. Suddenly, I viewed life through a different lens. Once some of the fog lifted after Aaron left earth for heaven, my perspective became even more eternal. It’s like I’m able to “zoom out” and prioritize what really matters.
Life became so different as we adjusted to being without a husband and without a father. As a young widow with children, I had to put one foot in front of the other, taking care of their needs as we all faced our grief every minute of every day.
Days after this beloved man’s funeral, I knew I had to become provider for our now smaller family. As a former elementary school teacher, the thought of going back to the classroom filled me with dread. As a mom, I knew I couldn’t be with kids all day every day without losing my mind.
I was in Chapter 2 of life with a new normal to figure out. With much prayer and sweet friends’ wisdom, I decided I didn’t have to return to teaching. I could do anything I wanted! What a rare gift that most adults don’t have the opportunity to consider! I wasn’t locked in to anything that I didn’t want to do! There was much freedom in knowing I could make money doing something I actually enjoyed!
With an unpredictable future I took a chance. I wanted to pursue my passion. I had no clue how to actually go about doing that but I was willing. I had a passion for fitness. I wanted to share my love of smarter workouts with anyone that I could reach!
Four kids are exhausting! Becoming “2 parents” (which is, by the way, impossible) was even more exhausting. Better nutrition and efficient workouts helped me become a more equipped mom and semi-dad.
So at this crossroad in my life, I chased my joy: helping others look and feel their best! It was awkward and clumsy, but it was this organic way to become an agent of change for others.
When I take time to reflect over the past 14 years of my life, I can’t help but shake my head with a bittersweet smile. God has provided. I am daily in awe.
Life is short. Really short. Are you pursuing your passion? Are you chasing joy?
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
“Momsanity” was born (because all moms are crazy), thanks to my friend Emily’s vision. We focus on motherhood, faith, fitness and nutrition, the pillars that keep moms from losing their minds. We are real moms who help other moms workout at home, and we’ve created a supplement line so that busy moms stay fueled to serve their families. How fun to be featured on Fox & Friends in New York in the fall of 2025!
In addition, I help busy women over 40 look and feel their best in my other online business, “Fit With Deb.” With quick workouts, delicious meals, and a focus on living the fat-loss lifestyle, women stay energized, lean, and confident (even in perimenopause and beyond). I love being a source of encouragement as women enjoy results that do not require perfection!
Who else deserves credit in your story?
My now husband, Jason, has done all the behind the scenes work of Fit With Deb coming to fruition. From logo design, website creation, and being my biggest cheerleader, he is the reason Fit With Deb went from idea to reality. Every step of the way, he helped me dream big and learn so much technology.
Momsanity only exists because of my ambitious friend Emily. As business partners, she has helped us to grow and expand in ways I never dreamed. She is willing to take risks so that we continue to thrive and help other moms to flourish.
My clients are the true stars! They are forever the hero of the story! I am humbled and honored to link arms with women who trust me with their wellness. They show up for themselves and then we celebrate their wins!
