Today we’d like to introduce you to Kenzie Biggins.
Hi Kenzie, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I did not originally set out to build an Executive Assistant company.
In 2013, I owned a social media agency, and clients frequently assumed that because my work was digital, I could help with almost anything that could be handled virtually. They began asking whether I could provide broader virtual support beyond social media.
The turning point came during a conversation with a retired Coca-Cola executive. She had worked with high-level Executive Assistants throughout her career, and although she had retired from her corporate position, she had not stopped leading. She was still serving on boards, managing professional commitments, and balancing a full personal life.
She explained that she still needed the same caliber of support she had relied on throughout her career. She told me that if I ever offered that kind of support virtually, she would become my first client.
She was true to her word. She became Worxbee’s first client, and she is still working with her Worxbee Executive Assistant today, 13 years later.
Worxbee initially focused on supporting retired executives who remained active on boards, in their communities, and in other leadership roles. It quickly became clear, however, that the need extended far beyond retired executives. Active executives, C-suite leaders, small business leaders, and nonprofit leaders were also looking for experienced support without necessarily hiring a traditional, full-time, in-office employee.
Over time, Worxbee evolved into a national provider of fractional Virtual Executive Assistant support. We help leaders gain the capacity they need to focus on their highest priorities while creating meaningful, flexible client opportunities for experienced Executive Assistants.
When COVID accelerated the shift toward remote work, the market became much more comfortable with the idea that trusted, high-level support could be delivered virtually. Around that time, I was featured on 60 Minutes, and Worxbee received national attention. Demand grew so quickly that we had a waitlist just to schedule a consultation.
Another important chapter in the company’s growth began when I moved from Atlanta to Greenville to participate in the Greenville Chamber’s Minority Business Accelerator. During my first year in Greenville, Worxbee tripled in size.
Greenville has built an environment that attracts and supports entrepreneurs. That matters because when small businesses are given the tools, community, and opportunities they need to grow, their success contributes to the growth of the city around them.
Today, Worxbee remains focused on the same idea that inspired our first client: leaders deserve access to experienced, trusted support, and Executive Assistants deserve to be recognized and valued for the important role they play.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No, it hasn’t. One of the biggest challenges has been helping people understand the difference between general Virtual Assistant support and high-level Virtual Executive Assistant support. The word “virtual” can sometimes lead people to assume the work is basic, transactional, or primarily task-based.
Experienced Executive Assistant support is much more nuanced. It requires trust, sound judgment, proactive thinking, strong communication, and a deep understanding of the executive’s priorities and work style. We had to demonstrate that those qualities could exist in a virtual relationship just as effectively as they could in a traditional office.
Over time, the widespread adoption of remote work made virtual collaboration feel more natural, but educating the market about the level and value of the support remains an important part of our work.
The widespread shift to remote work during COVID helped make virtual collaboration feel more natural, but it also created a different challenge. After the 60 Minutes feature, demand increased almost overnight. At one point, prospective clients had to join a waitlist just to schedule a consultation.
That level of growth was exciting, but it also stretched our capacity and exposed areas of the business that needed to evolve. It took time to build the team, systems, and processes needed to support increased demand without compromising the personalized experience, thoughtful matching, and quality of support Worxbee was built around.
We know there were people who reached out during that period whom we were not able to serve as quickly as we would have liked. That experience shaped how we grew from there and reinforced an important lesson: growth only matters if you can maintain the level of care that made people trust you in the first place.
Another ongoing challenge has been building a business that serves both sides of the relationship equally well. We are not only responsible for helping executives find the support they need. We also want experienced Executive Assistants to find meaningful work that fits their lives and allows them to be genuinely valued for their expertise.
For the relationship to succeed, both people must feel heard, supported, and set up to thrive. That requires continued investment in our matching process, communication, resources, and internal support.
Each challenge has helped clarify what we want Worxbee to be. Growth is not simply about serving more clients. It is about creating strong, lasting relationships without losing the care and personal attention that made those relationships possible.
As you know, we’re big fans of Worxbee. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Worxbee provides experienced Virtual Executive Assistants to executives, C-suite leaders, and senior professionals who need high-level support on a fractional basis.
Our Executive Assistants help with responsibilities such as calendar and inbox management, board support, meeting coordination, travel planning, communications, project support, research, expense management, and other work that keeps an executive’s personal and professional life moving forward.
However, the greatest value of an Executive Assistant is not simply completing a list of tasks. It is having someone who understands your priorities, anticipates what is needed, exercises sound judgment, and creates the capacity for you to focus on the work only you can do.
Worxbee specializes exclusively in Executive Assistant support. Our network is made up of experienced, U.S.-based Executive Assistants who have been carefully vetted and understand the expectations of supporting executives and senior leaders.
What sets us apart is the level of care we put into matching executives with Executive Assistants. We look beyond skills and experience to consider personality, communication preferences, expectations, and work style. Our goal is to create a strong working relationship, not simply identify two people who appear compatible on paper.
We also continue supporting both the client and the Executive Assistant after they begin working together. We do not believe our responsibility ends when an introduction is made.
I am especially proud of the lasting relationships that have developed through Worxbee. The fact that our first client is still supported through Worxbee 13 years later represents what we have always wanted to build.
I am also proud that Worxbee is a woman-owned company that helps elevate a profession largely made up of women. Executive Assistants are often underestimated or viewed as people who simply manage calendars and complete administrative tasks. In reality, experienced Executive Assistants can be trusted advisors, problem-solvers, operational partners, and an essential source of stability for the leaders they support.
Worxbee is not simply helping executives hand off busywork. We are helping leaders create greater capacity while giving experienced Executive Assistants access to meaningful, flexible opportunities where their expertise is recognized.
When the right executive and Executive Assistant come together, both people have the opportunity to thrive.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
The most important quality has been the willingness to listen closely.
Worxbee began because I listened when clients repeatedly asked for support beyond the services I was already providing. I listened when a retired executive explained that retirement had not eliminated her need for high-level Executive Assistant support. I continued listening as the needs of our clients and Executive Assistants evolved.
Sometimes the best business opportunities are not created by convincing people that they need something new. They come from paying attention to a need that already exists but has not yet been fully addressed.
Listening has helped me recognize opportunities, adapt our model, respond to challenges, and stay focused on what matters most to the people Worxbee serves.
