I was born and raised in Brazil, where I earned my degree in Veterinary Medicine and developed a deep passion for animal care. For over 16 years, I have dedicated my life to improving the health and well-being of pets, always believing that every animal deserves compassion, patience, and respect.
Moving to the United States was one of the biggest challenges of my life. Starting over in a new country, learning a different culture, and building my career from the ground up required determination, resilience, and a lot of hard work. I spent several years working in the grooming industry, gaining experience, earning my clients’ trust, and constantly improving my skills.
Eventually, I decided to follow my dream and opened Sweet Smell Pet Grooming. My goal was never just to create another grooming salon—it was to build a place where pets are treated as family and where owners feel confident leaving their beloved companions in our care.
Today, I am proud to own a growing business that reflects my passion, values, and commitment to excellence. Every challenge I have faced has shaped who I am, and I hope my story inspires others to believe that with dedication, courage, and love for what you do, it is possible to turn dreams into reality.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, it definitely wasn’t a smooth road. Building my business came with many challenges. Moving to the United States meant adapting to a new language, a different culture, and learning how to run a business in a completely new environment. One of my biggest challenges was overcoming the language barrier and earning the trust of my clients while still improving my English.
Another major challenge was introducing high-quality Brazilian grooming products to the American market. I truly believed in these products and wanted to share their benefits with my clients, but introducing something new always requires patience, consistency, and a lot of dedication. Fortunately, the response exceeded my expectations. My clients embraced the products, and seeing how much they loved the results made every challenge worthwhile.
There were also financial sacrifices, long working hours, and moments of uncertainty. Balancing my family responsibilities while pursuing my dream wasn’t always easy. But every obstacle taught me resilience, patience, and determination. Instead of giving up, I used each challenge as motivation to keep growing. Looking back, those experiences made me a stronger entrepreneur and helped shape the business I am proud of today.

Sweet Smell Pet Grooming is a boutique pet grooming salon dedicated to providing exceptional bathing and grooming services with a strong focus on quality, comfort, and personalized care.
One of our greatest differences is our premium skin and coat hydration treatments. We use high-end Brazilian products that provide deep hydration for the skin, the coat, or both. When I moved to the United States, I noticed that this type of specialized treatment was not commonly available in the American grooming industry. Introducing these products to my clients was one of my biggest challenges, but today it has become one of the features that our customers appreciate the most.
Another important difference is that we never compromise on quality. Unlike many grooming salons where clients must choose between basic and premium products, every pet at Sweet Smell Pet Grooming receives premium products as part of their service. We believe every pet deserves the highest level of care without requiring an upgrade.
We also take great pride in the details. Every pet leaves our salon wearing beautiful bows, ties, or bandanas that we carefully select and import from Brazil. Many of these accessories are exclusive, custom-designed for holidays and special occasions, making each visit unique and memorable.
One of our clients’ favorite traditions is our seasonal photo sets. Throughout the year, we create themed backdrops for holidays such as Independence Day, Christmas, Valentine’s Day, and many other celebrations. After each grooming appointment, we photograph every pet and send the picture to the owner as a keepsake. It has become a special part of the Sweet Smell experience and something our customers look forward to every season.
Above all, I believe our reputation has been built on consistency and genuine care. Clients often tell us that their pets leave looking beautiful, with incredibly soft coats, a wonderful fragrance that lasts for days, and accessories that make them stand out. Hearing those compliments reminds me that every detail matters and motivates me to continue raising the standard of pet grooming.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I believe luck is really about being prepared when opportunities come your way. Throughout my journey, I’ve experienced both good and bad luck, but I’ve learned that every challenge can become an opportunity if you’re willing to work for it.
Some of the best moments in my business came from unexpected opportunities, while some of the hardest moments taught me valuable lessons that made me a better entrepreneur. I don’t see success as a matter of luck alone—I believe it comes from passion, resilience, and the willingness to keep improving every day.
I’m grateful for every opportunity I’ve had, but I believe the results I’ve achieved are mainly the product of consistency, dedication, and truly caring about my clients and the pets they trust me with.
