Today we’d like to introduce you to Malika Hagins.
Hi Malika, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started doing makeup when I was 15 years old during my sophomore year of high school. What began as a creative hobby quickly turned into a true passion. I spent countless hours watching tutorials, practicing on myself, friends, and family, and continuously refining my skills. Over the past 13 years, my love for beauty has grown into a business that allows me to help women feel confident and beautiful for some of life’s most important moments.
My journey hasn’t always been easy. Like many entrepreneurs, I’ve faced challenges, moments of doubt, and seasons where I had to rebuild. Through it all, I remained committed to perfecting my craft, investing in my education, and trusting God’s timing for my business. Every experience has shaped me into the artist and business owner I am today.
Today, I specialize in creating timeless, soft glam looks while providing a luxury experience for every client who sits in my chair. More than just applying makeup, my goal is to help women see their beauty, leave feeling confident, and create an atmosphere where they feel valued and cared for. As I continue to grow, I’m excited to expand my brand, educate aspiring artists, and use my gifts to inspire and empower others.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, but every challenge has taught me something valuable. Like many entrepreneurs, I’ve experienced seasons where business was slow, struggled with self-doubt, and had to learn how to balance being both the artist and the business owner. Building a clientele takes time, consistency, and resilience, and there were moments when I questioned whether I should keep going.
Outside of business, I’ve also faced personal challenges that tested my perseverance. Those experiences strengthened my faith, built my character, and reminded me why I started in the first place. Instead of allowing setbacks to define me, I used them as opportunities to grow, improve my craft, and become a better entrepreneur.
Looking back, I’m grateful for every obstacle because it shaped me into the artist and woman I am today. Those experiences taught me resilience, patience, and the importance of trusting the process. Every challenge has made me appreciate the journey even more, and I’m excited for what’s ahead.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a professional makeup artist specializing in soft glam, bridal, and natural-enhancing makeup. My goal is to create timeless looks that highlight each client’s unique beauty rather than covering it. I believe makeup should enhance confidence while still allowing someone to look and feel like themselves.
What I’m most proud of is the relationships I’ve built with my clients and the confidence they leave with after sitting in my chair. For me, makeup is about more than the finished look—it’s about creating an experience where every client feels seen, valued, and beautiful.
What sets me apart is my attention to detail, my commitment to excellence, and the heart behind my work. I approach every appointment with professionalism, patience, and genuine care. As an artist, I see beauty as a gift from God, and I strive to use my creativity to serve others with excellence and integrity. Whether it’s a bride on her wedding day or someone celebrating a special milestone, I want every client to leave feeling empowered, confident, and radiant inside and out.
As I continue to grow, I also hope to educate aspiring makeup artists and build a brand that inspires women to embrace both their outer beauty and the confidence that comes from knowing their worth.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
What I love most about our city is the sense of community and the incredible talent that exists here. There are so many creative individuals and opportunities to connect with people from different backgrounds, which makes it an inspiring place to grow a business.
If I could change one thing, it would be creating more opportunities for collaboration and support among local entrepreneurs and creatives. I believe there’s room for all of us to succeed, and fostering a culture of encouragement and partnership would help our local business community grow even stronger.
