Hi Janel, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
In 2018, I launched my beauty brand while still working a full-time job, which made the early days quite tough as I tried to balance both. Fortunately, I was able to resign from my 9-5 and focus entirely on my business in 2019. I started with little and have been able to watch my brand grow over the last 8 years into an internationally known brand. I began with a single service in 2018, creating custom units for clients. I then started expanding my services from offering hands-on classes, online courses, a mentorship program, launching a product line, being apart of various speaking engagements, and so much more. It has taken a great deal of dedication and discipline to get to this place.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
This journey has certainly had its bumps along the way. Just as life itself is rarely a straight path, and that’s okay! I’ve learned to accept change, to realize that it’s okay to pivot, and to appreciate the value of being a beginner. Also recognizing that it’s okay to not have everything figured out. I never let the struggles knock me off my path. I understood that it was just a hurdle to get over. There’s no losses just lessons. You stumble or fall, just get back up and keep moving forward.

Impactful Direction was created to uplift, motivate, and inspire individuals. It serves as a safe place for those around me, allowing them to be their authentic selves. God is the foundation of Impactful Direction. I provide mentorship, resources, and a supportive community. My one-on-one calls are tailored to the needs of each mentee, no sessions are alike. The goal is to remind my mentees of who they are and what they were called to do. What separates my business is my focus on the individual rather than their brand. I recognize that your brand mirrors who you are. Your brand will only be as good as what you’re able to give it. With this understanding, I commit to nurturing the individual, empowering them to present their best selves in all areas of life. I’m proud of having a brand that focuses on getting to the core of who you are!
