Today we’d like to introduce you to Devanté Williams.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started my brand with a vision, longevity was the objective and wealth is my end goal. I launched my first collection is 2017, while attending SC State in Orangeburg, I registered and trademarked my brand in 2020 and from there on, everything spoke for itself. Every day I devoted myself to making my brand excel, I asked & learned as much as possible from prominent sources. I studied interviews from Nipsey Hussle, Young Dolph and Rick Ross countless times just to make sure I was on point and didn’t miss a beat. I started my lawn care business Nature Boy Lawn Care, to gain additional income. It showed me the resiliency of hard work and never giving up. In 2023, I was able to send my apparel to Rick Ross and he promoted it on Instagram, recently I sent some apparel to Sheduer Sanders and he promoted my brand as well in his YouTube channel. The story behind those moves are to always stay alert and ready for the next move.
I built relationships with multiple vendors throughout the city, some were so welcoming, they showed me the process and even let me create my collections, hands on.
Throughout all of the collections I’ve created, in 2024 I hosted my own fashion show, the Opulent Odyssey Fashion Show courtesy of my brand. I displayed multiple collections made from linen, denim, athletic wear, sunglasses and much more. Aside of having a creative vision from my brand, I wouldn’t be where I am today without God, hard work, faith, countless sacrifices, and the blood,sweat and tears from which I’ve put in. My favorite slogan is, “Nobody said it would be easy, but they did say it was worth.”
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It’s the hustle. It has its ups and downs but the main thing is to find your pace and maintain. You can start with nothing and finish with something, it’s possible.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
My business is fashion and I provide a service of creating unique and defiant logos produced on the best garments to give you a substantial feeling of achieving success. I’m proud that my brand and ideas have come to reality with a positive response from people all over the world.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I don’t be believe in luck, so everything that’s happened has been by God’s Will. I’m just an instrument and doing his work.
