Conversations with Alison

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alison.

Hi Alison, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
When I was growing up, my mom always liked to bake, she’d often let me help in the process, even when I made a big mess. This is where my love for baking began.

I entered my thirties, I wanted to take a new path and to embrace a career I loved. So I decided to apply for college and get a degree in culinary. I absolutely loved my college experience. I was able to learn so many new things when it came to cooking, baking and how to run a business.

Currently I have a cottage bakery, baking for our local community. I love to experiment with fun flavors to create tasty cakes and cookies. I also create custom cakes for birthdays, weddings and other special occasions. I also teach cake decorating classes. I love hosting classes because I get to be involved in the community, get to know people, and teach others how to have fun while baking.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Trying to be an entrepreneur in today’s economy is very hard. With rising ingredient prices, the cost of living going up it’s hit small businesses hard.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a baker of all things delicious. I specialize in gourmet cookies in over fifty flavor options. I also offer a wide variety of cake flavor options. I love mixing flavors together to create a delicious bite of cookie! For me cookies are always the superior options on a dessert table. They can be soft, crunchy, stuffed, mixed and be topped with buttercream.

At Christmas time I’m known for recreating the little Christmas tree cake snack. We make them from scratch, a tender cake with a delicious marshmallow cream center then dipped in chocolate. I also have created a version of this but in a cookie!
