Hi Mikayla, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Art became my safe place during a difficult season of life. What started as a way to relieve stress and find peace became a passion that gave me purpose. My mother-in-law saw something special in my work before I did and encouraged me to turn my creativity into a business. As I shared my artwork people constantly told me how beautiful it was and how much they loved the scents of my candles.
Today, I’m the proud owner of Divine Creations by Mikayla Clifton. Every piece I create is made with passion, love, and the hope of inspiring others to find beauty even during life’s challenges. My journey has taught me that sometimes the greatest opportunities are born from the moments we least expect, and I’m grateful to turn what once helped heal me into something that can brighten someone else’s day.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. In the beginning, I tried to do everything on my own because I didn’t realize how many resources and support systems were available to small business owners. There were times when I felt overwhelmed, discouraged, and unsure of my next steps. Learning how to manage every part of a business from creating products to marketing, finances, and customer service came with a lot of trial and error.
Those challenges taught me resilience and the importance of asking for help, seeking knowledge, and building a support network. Every obstacle has helped me grow not only as a business owner but also as a person. Looking back, I’m grateful for the struggles because they shaped the entrepreneur I am today and reminded me that success isn’t about never facing difficulties it’s about continuing to move forward despite them.

At Divine Creations by Mikayla Clifton, I specialize in handcrafted resin art, wax melts, home décor, and custom gifts. Every piece is made with care, creativity, and attention to detail, allowing me to create something unique and meaningful for each customer. I also hold a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, which has helped me build and grow my business with both creativity and strategy.
What I’m most proud of is turning a hobby that helped me through stressful times into a business that brings joy to others. What sets me apart is the passion and heart behind every creation. I believe handmade items should tell a story, so I focus on quality, personalization, and creating pieces that leave a lasting impression.
Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
One of my favorite resources is Audible because I enjoy listening to self-help and personal development books. They help me stay motivated, develop a positive mindset, and continue growing as both an entrepreneur and a person. I’m a firm believer that you’re never done learning, and making time for personal growth has played an important role in both my business and my life.
